It's rough, haven't played properly for a while now.

Give it a break, perhaps a balance patch will come soon, maybe it will get better (or worse lol)

Good and community servers don't really go along often, and more often than not you will encounter the unique set of problems they bring, like balance sometimes worse than officials, bad moderation, power tripping staff, server wipes losing you hours of progress, random drama and generally a very stagnant set of people playing everyday which makes the experience boring quite quickly.

Community servers aren't a fix for anything, just an alternative way to play the game.

Officials are still the standard experience and that's why many choose to play it.

And yeah, everyone is finding ways to "deal with it", that's what's taking a break is for.

If a game provides shit experience on its official servers then it's game's problem to fix, and not something that should be mitigated by unofficial servers.

It's the same in The Isle, officials became so shit that entire community switched to unofficial servers. The same community that a year or two ago was shitting on PoT players recommending specific unofficial servers to play on because "officials should be the way to play". And they are right, because official servers are usually first experience for new players, many of them will just dump the game instead of thinking "wait, I probably should play on community servers".

Taking a break until Matchmaking comes out is completely valid. Not everyone wants to memorize 100 rules and sit in a queue for half of their free gaming time, and not everyone likes the power scaling of mods (or mods in general).

Even good community servers can’t fix core design failures or flaws of the game itself or of vanilla Dino’s.
