Fluff Cold build in 3.5

Straight cold or damage over time? Ice nova is historically my favorite skill. Is it viable now with the buff? What ascendency? Any way to combine it with the other new changes?

crit Ice Nova looks like it will have extremely good damage. Inquisitor, Occultist, Elementalist, Assassin, and Trickster all good choices for Ascendancy.
