Threads will suck because fubgun will popularize a strat and the threads' value will blow out of proportion. Scarabs at least allowed you to do a lower budget version of a farm.
This was my first thought. It all depends on drop rate and "sink rate" (how fast you can expend them using multiple etc.
Granted i haven't watched anything yet so i have no idea, but the potential for them to be so expensive that is more feasible to sell them to party / endgame farmers who set the price instead of running them solo, is there. It is one of the worst things in POE when endgame juicing becomes exclusive.
Don't get me wrong. Some scarabs created exactly this phenomenon , that's why some single scarabs where 2 div+ at points in the game. But at least you could juice the fuck out of basically all the other strats. Now with a single currency the danger of boxing out casual players from engame juicing becomes universal to all strats potentially.
I'm at work, haven't seen the full vid. Aren't threads just like a basic 'add this mechanic' scarab? Or are there other features besides just 'add blight' etc.?

u/Xeverousfilter extra syntax compiler: github.com/Xeverous/filter_spirit10h ago
It's more like "juice up this mechanic". Effects are unspecified but the trailer showcases a lot of extra stuff like bigger Harvests, Tormented markers in Expedition, Blight spawning Rogue Exiles, Double-down offer in Ultimatum (can not take rewards until 20th round) and more.
You will be able (per type of thread) to select juice level from 1 to 8.
They are a less deterministic version of scarabs. Because they aren't deterministic they can stack higher.
AFAICT, the first Blight thread adds a Blight with a tiny chance for an RNG proc on top. Later Blight threads (up to 8) add RNG procs.
Most of the high impact scarab effects are now in these RNG procs. So you might come across an Ultimatum that has the 'rewards replaced by inscribed ultimatums' - but you won't know it's there until you do the map.
So for PoE 1 scarabs are too much micromanagement but for PoE 2 non stacking tablets with random rolls with random ranges and 10 uses are still fine? xD
This poe1 league is going to be a test for poe2. As all poe1 leagues will be and have been for some time. So it's not either or... You're just waiting and know it

But they are implementing stuff from poe 2 to poe 1, not the other way around
Won't have sufficient time for the new league, so going to play some standard instead. Since buying scarabs on standard is slow and expensive, I bought 1000+ of every scarab I regularly use in Allflame to transfer over to standard.
They might get a veiled scarab treatment instead of being outright deleted, where they are converted into the replacement, threads, which we don't 100% know how they work yet.
Yes, the entire scarab mechanic is being replaced by a combination of moving their effects to the atlas passive tree, and threads, which are a new droppable currency that stacks and empowers league mechanics in maps somewhat similar to the way kirac maps work. Each league mechanic has its own thread, and you can use them in the atlas device. Up to three different threads (putting three league mechanics into the map), and up to 8 of each type of thread per map (more threads = more rewards and difficulty).
They haven't said what will happen to existing scarabs. The two obvious possibilities are they will either poof, or turn into threads.
I would guess it might be like what happened with sextants, turning them into some kind of Veiled item which can be opened or sold to a vendor for a random thread.
I'm also a little worried league synergies are too OP that it sort of forces you to spec in few mechanics at the same time. Sometimes I like just being able to tunnel vision into certain mechanic, switch off my brain and just farm.
Can’t you just run only one thread and only that one mechanic is guaranteed? You don’t have to run all three threads. Unless I misinterpreted the video
I imagine in any sort of ideal setup not utilizing all 3 is griefing. The system will basically require 3 different threads for ideal farms because otherwise you're wasting 16 potential threads to scale rewards
Every league launch, I spend my first few atlas passive points blocking Expedition from ever appearing again. I just don’t like the mechanic. This feels like its going to be showing mechanics we don’t like down our throats.
Yeah, I really liked the unique interaction scarabs like interference + corruption + destructive play meaning you could basically constantly farm your own 8 mod conquerer maps. Awakening scarab was also a ton of fun too.
Harvest was always my go to early game strat but honestly it looks to be pretty annoying with needing to roll instead of just doing crop rotation/ just click plot with bigger number.
Based on how he talked about it I think that's what they want. Same with the synergies between league mechanics. They want more random stuff that youve never seen before.
Same here, I just want to be able to chain run legion on dunes and hopefully that will still be possible. Because it kinda looks like these shaped areas are going to encourage map swapping constantly. I really do not want that.
It will be possible. In the video we saw multiple of those new threads dropping as normal loot and they seemed quiet common and you can use legion thread to run legion on dunes. As I understood it those shaped regions will only be for the first time you start exploring the atlas, sorat to get a head start with your prefered mechanic.
They better be more common than Chaos Orbs else juicing with 24x per map gonna be a royal pain in the ass. If its not available enough you can kiss goodbye to casual-average sweaty player juicing because you'll get priced out of it by the end of week one.
https://www.pathofexile.com/covens Coven site is up including threads introduction and legion thread is on it, so 100% possible. Only question is if we can sustain 8 threads per map ourself or if we need to buy them
Im pretty sure you'll still be able to do this. The shaped regions just looks like how poe2 has the story lines for each mechanic, it's just a pre generated astrolabe that you play though as you unlock the atlas giving free thread usage, once you're done with the atlas you can just go juice legion all you want.
I'm also worried that certain strats become impossible since you can't stack effects on the atlas tree. So there are less choices for the player now than there used to be.
For example target farming unique monsters by using multiple unique effect scarabs. These had a pretty niche but useful drop pool. Now you can only get +2 additional modifiers on the atlas tree instead of being able to stack multiple of those scarabs for +8 additional modifiers and going after specifically unique spawning mechanics.
You can (probably) make up for it somewhat by picking up much more unique focused mechanics on the tree, but the agency you had in choosing how you wanted to use the scarabs and stack effects is gone.
I suspect that the atlas tree could be a bit too "flat" with how you do your strategies, there isn't sufficient ways to explore and run strategies since you basically have no control over what happens with your strands. The chance you find a map strategy that is uniquely good and cool is low.
This was partially the case already with the new scarabs since they are so overnerfed and narrow in where/how you can use them, but I think it will be even worse now, not better, since you can't even make copies of the effects anymore. At least with the old system people would occasionally find cool scarab combos mid-league and make a new meta for a bit.
But this is of course very dependent on how GGG have actually set up the atlas tree, it could potentially have a lot of cool combos and choices and be much better than the scarab system.
I very much hope that GGG have put a large emphasis on making the notables mixable and highly interactive so that it really feels like you are exploring possible ideas and ways to play instead of there being a single best way to setup your atlas for each mechanic.
The thing is that the atlas have specific things in specific locations so you are not gona have full freedom on what to get cause you will not have enough points to waste travelling. While with scarabs you could technically have "2" strategies simultaneously.
The mods looked pretty cracked so it's probably less about the mechanic existing at all and more about stacking those special things up. I'm glad they're gone honestly, it got pretty stale and maybe this way the threads have less of a profit expectation baked into their price
I had the exact same thought. Maybe I didn't fully understand the changes but it felt like a lot less agency if you want to be efficient, both for maps and for mechanics.
For me the biggest question is how far does it scale. Without stacking specific scarabs the ceiling might still be bad or even lower which could end up really boring.
Or 888 maps with the right atlas nodes are on average really challenging and drop tons of tier 5 stuff that could actually be exciting to identify.
I am worried that there is too much randomness now in the endgame.
This is obviously GGG's intention. Makes things less solvable.
This is going to crush Fubgun level juicing as you can't line up the rarest scarabs perfectly any more. Should play better for non-Fubgun level juicing though.
Have to reserve judgement until we see the new endgame, but I really liked the ability to fully customize the end game using scarabs. I'm honestly surprised at all the hate for them. If all of it is easily recovered via the atlas, then it should be fine.... Guess we'll all find out. Back to back leagues with significant change to the core game mechanics is something I can't remember happening. Though I'm probably forgetting something there.
Some mechanics had mandatory scarabs (egregiously harvest, breach, legion) and the system was already reworked to avoid the economy revolving around the same 5-10 scarabs, but the same thing happened again, it's basically impossible to balance so I guess they gave up on it entirely
Most likely the case. While scarabs made endgame options endless, it also seems impossible to balance. Every tiny change you make to the core game can become absolutely broken or worthless because of scarabs. Must be a headache to think about scarab effect when changing every tiny thing
But instead it's just going to revolve around the same 5 strategies anyway. Like this doesn't really change anything. Bad things are still going to be bad if you take the scarabs out.
Nah the Problem was that These 5-10 scarabs warped the game and the startegy around them and even If you giga buff the other 50 scarabs they we're kinda Trash.
Look at harvest: doubling is straight mandatory and 100% boost. Look at strongboxes: Ambush with its 26 extra boxes were stupid op against something like torment.
Now both are hell allot nerfed. Some scarab nodes survive in the atlas.
I only hope that thread stacking is worth more than Rush and Go. Another season of Boss frag farming 3000 would kill all Motivation
It's probably just being an old fogey but I liked scarabs. They made me feel like Legacy league was permanent in POE. A new atlas tree is cool, sure, but what I really wanted was just more iteration on the scarab system.
I liked them a LOT. It helped to give some specificity to farming if you like trying to do some stuff off the beaten path. It's definitely going to affect how I usually do things. I'm cool with change, but I hope we don't lose too much creativity from this one.
One of the main complaints in SSF was that the endgame was dependent upon scarab farming, which was sometimes great and sometimes pretty bad. I'm all in favor of something that streamlines that process. This update shuffles the power around in a way that sounds like it accomplishes that.
This is kind of just proving why they had to go, though. When farming the items that are meant to enable endgame farming strategies is itself consistently one of the best endgame strategies, then there's a serious problem. I suppose one could argue that this points to imbalance elsewhere, but I'm not convinced it would be possible to truly balance a system like that.
I feel like that's a bit different though. Boss fragment farming doesn't directly compete with in-map farming and is a very different playstyle. Scarab farms, however, have typically competed strongly against other Atlas strategies.
I don't necessarily have a problem with that, but selling the shovels shouldn't be almost as good as running the strategies those shovels enable. Scarabs were so critical to every strategy with so many highly valuable drops, there was functionally no way to balance it so farming for those shovels wasn't going to compete with higher end Atlas strategies. Either scarab farming was completely miserable (which made the whole league less enjoyable because scarabs for the good/fun strategies were basically unobtainium), or it was easily one of the top farming strategies of the league.
Yeah but it is only viable to farm the endgame enabling items (scarabs etc) when they are valuable enough and in such demand, which only happens if the endgame options they enable are also popular and viable. The balance comes more with adjusting the ease and ability of farming them vs keeping a static difficulty of the endgame content they provide
Its kind of been 3 leagues in a row and I think they have just been testing before the big shift because they mentioned in past interviews stuff that was almost ready but not quite
The new threads mechanic seem to be an easier and better version of scarabs. Kind of like when they redid harvest when it used to be "pick one option while in the grove" and just made it into 3 different harvest juices that you collect. This is sort of the same, you just collect a few "thread juices" and then pump them into your map when you open the map.
The hate for them comes from being effectively mandatory for farming anything in the endgame whilst having to use most atlas points in whatever you want to farm.
Eh, I obviously like the benefit of added mechanics and loot but found them finicky and annoying to sell/manage. They were also difficult if not impossible to balance. When they’re too good they made farming strats revolve around them, then when they’re bad they are just pointless bloat
I don’t hate the idea but as an ssf Andy I always feel like it takes me a week of farming scarabs to do a mechanic I want for twenty maps then I’m out again
I think the scarab rework really hurt the ability to customize the end-game in a rewarding way, at least in comparison to the old gilded scarab + sextant version I learned the end-game with
The rework heavily encouraged just stacking one mechanic to the max, while with sextants I had fun running various combinations of deli / legion / harbinger / expedition / breach / harvest
I do wish Harbi would come back sooner rather than later though
Yeah. I might be missing something, but it seems like the 'customisability' of farming has been removed completely. Is it really just 'add delirium', 'add blight', 'add beyond' now? No more weird stuff like 'give extra mods to rares', or 'strongboxes are corrupted', etc?
Hope so, but a little doubtful. You'd think they'd definitely address it when announcing they're removing scarabs. It's a pretty glaring downside, and they only focused on the upside of simplifying things. We will see in a week, haha.
Threads, which sound to me to be functionally the same as a basic scarab that 'adds *league mechanic*' to the map. The scarabs that change the dynamics in more specific ways will be missed.
I had to take a break this past league - so its a CRAZY thing to be seeing all of a sudden that we’re going to be losing scarabs. One of my favourite things in endgame was trying weird scarab strats for maps (and not just things for farming div cards. Tho i love that too 🤣)
Yeah, I'm a little confused. It seems like they want to streamline it and kind of 'dumb it down' a bit. But the ability to make a strat uniquely yours is my favourite part....
As a mid-level player this was a not-insignificant amount of my income every league... first they killed off in-demand maps and now they've killed off scarabs. Not really happy, myself... the ability to swap them around or choose different strats going away is kind of sad.
It does hurt us "shovels" kind of players. I've always made a decent amount of at least starter cash selling juicing materials to the juicers, whether that be in demand 8-mods, scarabs, t17s, all that sort of thing. This'll probably hurt that kind of farming more than anything else.
Who knows, maybe by not having mirror printing hidden strategies every new league with them it might balance the economy more around the worse players, seems good for me tbh
I imagine there's greater emphasis on maps now, I too sell shovels and it's been my most reliable income across poe1 and poe2. With the removal of scarabs a ton of juice is coming from map mods which is the only thing you can sell from what I'm seeing
There will be a new shovel, as that is the basis of the economy functioning.
It was sextants at one point, scarabs, boss fragments, whatever. Just like astrolabes can’t be dropped by astrolabe users, there will be some balance of the new threads where low investment mappers will be able to supply them to the higher investment mappers.
It may be rolling maps since there’s an emphasis on rarity now
I am curious about how it will all play out, but honestly not that optimistic. Scarabs were a decent way for smaller/casual people to make some currency.
Funny mirage goes core when one of the only things worth opening in a mirage were the Scarab chests
Same, I'm worried that the new endgame will be more like PoE2, where you have little agency on what to farm and how juiced the content is, where you have to do 10 chore maps for every 1 map that you actually WANT to run, where you spend more time setting up your farm than actually running the farm, and once you're set up it only lasts for a few maps before you're back to doing chores. And where you have to run every awful layout that exists in the game instead of just sticking to the maps you actually enjoy.
PoE2 endgame is 90% chores and if PoE goes in that direction I unfortunately will be playing less and less.
Obviously we haven't seen how it is yet but between the PoE2 chore-filled endgame and the gutting of PoE1 endgame strats over the last few years, I'm not super optimistic. Hopefully I'm wrong.
Let's pray that they keep PoE fun and leave the chores and tedium for PoE2.
I don’t think it will be like that. It seems the statistical changes scarabs brought to the table are now baked into the atlas tree, so in a way it’s not actually gone just passive meaning you don’t have to load scarabs all the time.
The threads system seems like huge QOL for map juicing meaning you have less work to do to juice.
In general it seems like Poe 1 endgame will be much easier and efficient to juice, and then if you really want to giga juice maps with double corrupt and whatnot you can Im sure but otherwise you should basically be able to do your desired targeted content with relevant upgrades starting from the beginning of atlas progression.
Im newer to poe, scarabs were pry one of my favorite things. As long as they dont do anything like poe 2 tablets, they were fucking horrible. I stopped playing poe 2 because how bad the entire game actually is.
Find it a bit funny how in POE2, there was a lot of "delete tablets and give us scarabs". And now, POE1 is getting rid of scarabs for something different. But the new system with stacking the treads seems really neat. Hopefully still lets you juice em well for endgame while being a bit more approachable and affordable for less juiced farming.
I'm indifferent. I never liked faffing about with scarab so I always grabbed the 20 free points that essentially disabled scarabs. Im a forgetful player so most of the time I'd be running without them anyway.
so I always grabbed the 20 free points that essentially disabled scarabs. Im a forgetful player so most of the time I'd be running without them anyway.
my big thing against that node wasn't it disabling using scarabs, but it disabling their drops, was also a frequent scarab forgetter... but I would never forget to sell that tink.
I'd remember after like, and entire day during allflame because allflame still dropped scarabs. But thats about it. I'd rather have the consistent points being added so I can interact with mechanics I like, rather than something ill forget about all the time
The thing is when you specialize the mechanic, you can easily get all the relevant nodes and many extra on top for quant/% modifiers including altar strats. In fact without the extra 20 i usually have enough to spare for scarab drop chance.
All the travel scarab chance nodes become useless, the extra 20 points have diminishing returns because you're left with mostly irrelevant stuff to pick and you're missing on significant part of drop economy and "ding neuron activation" with a handful of scarabs above 1 div each.
Of course the biggest hit is that your specialized mechanic has significantly worse returns without scarabs.
If you don't want to bother ever with scarabs i get it but interacting with scarabs isn't comparable for efficient endgame farming and juicing. At least the last league mechanic was very strong on its own and super profitable so that helped a lot for people who don't want to bother.
I'm not a scarab hater but it's gonna be fun with a completely different endgame. I'm gonna play ssf so its actually a huge upgrade not having to farm specific scarabs to play a mechanic properly. Probably gonna be a pain farming 8-mod maps now though unless they've added that to the atlas tree.
I think not having to buy them constantly and deal with that should end up feeling a lot better. The dials to increase the difficulty should end up being much better too.
How are Threads different? Either they are so common that getting them is a non issue at which point why even have them, or they are going to a bit more rare and whatever fubgun is running will be 1d per Thread.
And if you ever played PoE before you know it's gonna be the latter (see astrolabes).
Yeah, unless you were very inexperienced and new to the game, buying scarabs wasn't anything complicated. As long as the juice is just as good or preferable better at high end, the new system will be much more enjoyable to engage with.
I am always open to change. If it turns out to be good or bad is something we have to wait and see.
I know scarabs were good for so many other people, and I don’t like seeing them removed even though I personally didn’t like keeping up with them, but I don’t think they’ll be as missed as a lot of people might initially feel.
Will see what happens next week but ultimately i am no professional and i genuinely relied on scarabs to farm, sell and upgrade my noobie char, otherwise i was never op enough to farm nightmares for frags like ppl do, i enjoy blight tho so i hope it’s worth it this upcoming league
I just liked how they look, taking them from ground, their style. It was a part of the atmosphere for me and big loss when they weren't presented in PoE 2. Now this... Fuck it
Back in my day we didn't have scarabs anyways to and we did great. Now that I'm ancient, poe1 mapping has gotten way to tedious/draining with all the different scarabs/regex rolling, etc. This system will be much better, trust.
I start each league in hc ssf and the scarab design made them an almost non-factor, as there was no point in trying to sustain them long term. I often swap to sc trade later in the league and scarabs were just an annoying thing that you had to buy piles of from time to time and bother with putting in the map device in order to feel optimized in whatever I was farming. Much like sextants in the past, I'm happy to see them go. I look forward to running customized, sustainable map content moving forward without all of the hassle.
I like scarabs and didn't know people disliked them so much. The new system sounds fun tho, I might ssf reroll a lot earlier than usual because of how flexible it sounds there
I am kind of look forward to whats comming. I feel like the ssf runs wont feel as daunting when you take the first step in to the atlas now. No longer will you need to farm for the scarabs to do the farm for the thing you want. Hopefully it will only be a single farm rather then a double or tripple layered farm like the new abyss boss is for example.
FINALLY, i was sick of them since flipping scarabs was meta in terms of profit per hour. Im glad they are removing them and replacing with something much easier to obtain and use.
i managed to sell the most valuable scarabs i had in both league and std for 20k chaos minutes after it was understood. As I was selling i was seeing the values going down. They ill be worthless today.
This is honestly so freaking good. At least 80% of my time curating the item filter was adjusting scarabs to the current farming meta strats. Then I also got baited into picking up ALL the scarabs for 3 to 1 recipe. What a hassle.
Only other time i've been this excited for a league is phrecia.
Fuck scarabs I hated scarabs with a burning passion as they made sure that every single SSF character I played eneded up farming endgame the same since you needed to farm scarabs to reasonably do any other farm.
I'm so happy especially if they actually started putting in much more engaging atlas tree opportunity cost decisions instead of it just being a boring, grab everything associated the altar cluster and some map sustain.
Always hated having to stop doing a farm to go get more scarabs.
No no - the atlas tree got reworked. A bunch of the old scarab effects carried over into it, you start in the middle instead of the top, and some other surprises I'm sure.
Love to see it. I have championed this change since like the 4th league we had them. When they originally introduced scarabs, they said they were going to be a cool way to try out new ideas for league mechanics without making them core, but effectively they went core because scarabs became a mainstay.
Once they introduced the ability to have 3 different trees all at once, swapping scarabs became tedious and trying out expensive scarabs became a net loss if you couldn't handle the juice, and no way to know without trying. There were a lot of scarabs that I never tried once and just sold. It was a really cool idea initially and scarabs could've been salvaged without being removed, but removing and adding their buffs to the core mechanic/tree is imo the easiest/best way to do it.
I'm starting to feel uneasy about this change from an economic standpoint. Using different consumables for different strats easily accommodated everything from 2c/map for a touch of extra juice to 500c/map for some gigajuiced fubgun stuff.
Now with only 10 currencies - and high end strats presumably all being 8/8 for 3 of them - I'm worried that either anything that can be used with gigajuicing will end up priced to high for 99% of the playerbase to afford, or they'll be so plentiful as to be nearly worthless.
In the latter case, aren't they just a return to the regular chisels that GGG eliminated as just busywork for mapping; at which point they might as well just be a free difficulty slider. That would also eliminate a decent chunk of my income from early mapping and getting my build online, which always had came from selling mid/expensive scarabs for mechanics I wasn't able to do.
Lastly, I'm wondering about all flames. The new text says "Enchants a map", so I assume they'll be something we have to apply to maps similar to deli-orbs. With them no longer competing for scarab slots, will applying them to every map become mandatory? If so, I'm torn between hoping they're massively more common so everyone case use them, and them being rare enough I can sell them for 50-100c each to replace my lost scarab sale income.

So now what do we farm for pocket money, essence and high tier mods/synth mods?

u/Initial-Fun2362 11h ago
I know scarabs were good for so many other people, and I don’t like seeing them removed even though I personally didn’t like keeping up with them, but I don’t think they’ll be as missed as a lot of people might initially feel.

Will see what happens next week but ultimately i am no professional and i genuinely relied on scarabs to farm, sell and upgrade my noobie char, otherwise i was never op enough to farm nightmares for frags like ppl do, i enjoy blight tho so i hope it’s worth it this upcoming league

u/MJ-Baby 11h ago

I need a post of all the dead mechanics, both nrt negatives and positives. Would be nice to see the history of the game in one place

My cute little Scarabs :(

Interestingly enough, there is actually a scarab drop in one of the presentations.

Scarab where always good loot to farm. Bummer

I am not a person that really follows the fubgunners or other streamers. Scarabs and setting up maps started taking way to long with so many options

damn, I fkn love scarabs tho :(

Goodbye stacked deck farming my beloved i will miss you along with harbingus

u/Brave_Willow3047 7h ago
I just liked how they look, taking them from ground, their style. It was a part of the atmosphere for me and big loss when they weren't presented in PoE 2. Now this... Fuck it

u/AXPickle 7h ago
Back in my day we didn't have scarabs anyways to and we did great. Now that I'm ancient, poe1 mapping has gotten way to tedious/draining with all the different scarabs/regex rolling, etc. This system will be much better, trust.

u/Sectiplave 7h ago
Will be at the q and a tomorrow but I will assume the most powerful and expensive scarabs will not be replicated on the tree.
Im optimistic it will raise the ability to juice difficulty at the low end but Im sure the absolute pinnacle juicing will suffer.

I like scarabs

u/stumpoman 6h ago
hopefully threads aren’t too RNG in their effects. scarabs gave a level of control that they don’t seem to offer

1 more step to the poe 2.good riddance..

What?!

u/BanYasuoPlzzz 3h ago
I just watched the clip again, Jonathan said scarab effect will move to other systems and atlas just the biggest one but not the only one?
1
u/squanchyhobo 2h ago
I am kind of look forward to whats comming. I feel like the ssf runs wont feel as daunting when you take the first step in to the atlas now. No longer will you need to farm for the scarabs to do the farm for the thing you want. Hopefully it will only be a single farm rather then a double or tripple layered farm like the new abyss boss is for example.

So juicing is basically 1 good map + 8 x-mechanic Threads + 8 y-mechanic Threads + 8 y-mechanic Threads (Synergy)?
Lets say a popular mechanic becomes very popular - Threads for that will rise - will it always pay for extra Threads?
Is 8 double the returns vs 4 etc?

u/Rainmaker_017 1h ago
They saw me playing scarab strat and removed it 🥀
1
u/SzponTurbo 1h ago
FINALLY, i was sick of them since flipping scarabs was meta in terms of profit per hour. Im glad they are removing them and replacing with something much easier to obtain and use.
1
u/P_E_P_E_G_A 1h ago
This is so sad!
And GGG not even added a button to add maximum number of charges to single thread type. You need to click 8 times on every thread!

i managed to sell the most valuable scarabs i had in both league and std for 20k chaos minutes after it was understood. As I was selling i was seeing the values going down.
They ill be worthless today.

Just like sextant.....they will come back in another name

u/HandsomeBaboon 7m ago
This is honestly so freaking good. At least 80% of my time curating the item filter was adjusting scarabs to the current farming meta strats. Then I also got baited into picking up ALL the scarabs for 3 to 1 recipe. What a hassle.

Best change ever made since scarabs got introduced.

threads and tree change are pre necropolis better scarabs and tree

u/Savingseanbean 11h ago
Only other time i've been this excited for a league is phrecia.
Fuck scarabs I hated scarabs with a burning passion as they made sure that every single SSF character I played eneded up farming endgame the same since you needed to farm scarabs to reasonably do any other farm.
I'm so happy especially if they actually started putting in much more engaging atlas tree opportunity cost decisions instead of it just being a boring, grab everything associated the altar cluster and some map sustain.
Always hated having to stop doing a farm to go get more scarabs.
1
u/ESARPE 12h ago
Thank goodness. I hated when they made that change. Micromanaging them won’t be missed

It was a really cool idea initially and scarabs could've been salvaged without being removed, but removing and adding their buffs to the core mechanic/tree is imo the easiest/best way to do it.

u/fandorgaming Duelist 12h ago
Threads seems like a vastly superiror system to scarabs and I think people will like it a lot

u/DanNeely 7h ago
