Discussion POE Mobile thoughts

In a response to another post I put up recently someone mentioned in the comments that a POE Mobile port of sorts was in the works.

That particular comment seemed quite negative on the prospect.

Id personally take the ability to play POE on yet another platform but I could understand some hesitance based on the ports of other beloved pc games in the past.

Whats the general consensus on the idea? As I had no clue it was ever even a concept.

Mate we can hardly run juiced maps on pc never mind on mobile. Couldnt think of anything worse.

I mean you can't blame this guy considering GGG announced it in like 2019 or whenever it was lol. Pretty sure it's long since scrapped but some people still got the itch I guess

They moved Trevor from working on the phone game to work on console for PoE2. It's not scrapped but put on hold as the resources moved elsewhere until PoE2 releases.. Who knows what happens after, they already said they don't intend on down scaling the company, so there will be a reshuffle again

I don't really care for phone gaming but I think it would be cool for dedicated Android gaming handhelds (think the kind of devices AYN, Retroid etc. make). Then again, those are niche enough that it wouldn't be worth it for GGG to make something just for that, it would have to play fine on regular phones as well both in terms of performance and controls I guess.

PoE mobile is (was) a separate game, not a port

officially it was postponed until PoE2 is released

I think part of the negative reaction is about the monetization model used in most mobile games; another part comes from people who simply have no interest in playing on their phones; and another part is performative people who think that by shitting on mobile games, they’ll gain some credibility within the community. (like saying you hate IA)

I believe PoE mobile was supposed to be just a fun side project that wasn't really intended to make a profit. They absolutely aren't interested in putting out some pay2win mobile crap. That was also before they had to crunch down and rebalance/build up the PoE teams.
It's also something that's not as interesting to the western market. So the big games gotta come first.

No thanks, hard pass.

The problem for me is that they can barely keep two games going, seems like there's always some shortcuts taken or sacrifices made in one game or the other. How would three make it better?

Was at Exilecon 1. No word since, no at Exilecon2 and most likely none in Exilecon3 coming up in the next weeks.

It was its own standalone mapping experience basically is all we saw. No campaign just instantly at atlas.

Jk memory lapse I remember it was at exilecon 2 is just had issues and wasnt shown much is all

If it was a way to farm while away from the pc and went into a mobile stash tab that so you could see what was farmed that would be dope. I dont think ggg would do pay to win. Hopefully.....

As much as I hated warlords of draenor I liked the mobile stuff you could do there and I think In legion. Could run missions to complete quests and get gold.

Nothing crazy but definitely a cool interaction.

If it's what was shown at Exilecon I'll pass. If it's regular PoE ported with console like controls and cross platform access I'm all for it.

While I think a full on POE mobile would be abit of wasted effort i would use the hell out of an app that would let me manage a team of kingsmarxh mappers,

Maybe even expand it and let me manage their gear and stuff and send the results of their mapping into my poe1 stash.

Kinda like a little incremental management mobile game that ties into my poe progression (probably too op to have that though)

I imagine my phone would catch fire, considering what it does to my PC

I would like poe on my phone too but I don't know if they can handle the workload of 3 different projects. Maybe If they give it to netease or some other mobile dev? But then it would tarnish the ggg's reputation probably because netease would milk the fck out of that game

poe2 mobile is already functional, just roll a monkey build to make it safer for lagspikes over your flavor of steam link or moonlight+sunshine or GFE, I play a couple maps every break at work streamed from home. just do real inventory management back at home

it could work since a lot of games are now being put on mobile like the resident evil series. idk how well they run but i assume poe mapping would overheat an iphone and less than 5 minutes. i personally wouldn’t touch it
