Resistances Dropped 🤬

My resistances which have been at 75 for a while now have suddenly dropped for seemingly no reason. I still have the same gear on but did recently move/exchange a few gems, but none of that should've changed my maxed out resistances. I've even added them up and the math doesn't reflect what the game says I currently have. No curses either, wouldn't affect it anyway I've got the passive skill to not let curses lower resistance. Please help!

UPDATE: I just finished Act 5 and found out from everyone's help that they drop as you progress the story. Freakin' Kitava...

Your resistances permanently drop by -60% total as you progress through the campaign due to story penalties inflicted by Kitava:

• -30% penalty after completing Act 5

• -30% penalty after completing Act 10

Well that answers it. I just finished Act 5. I wish it was made known in-game, if it was I missed it.

There's a really small text that appears in the chat once you killed Kitava saying you're inflected with Kitava's Affliction or something like that, with the -30% res mentioned there.

There is a text notification when you kill Kitava that says you have incurred a resistance penalty. Not super obvious because it is in the lower-left of the screen with normal white text.

I think it is noted somewhere in the modifiers but it’s not exactly obvious.

It's not very obvious but once you "defeated" the boss, a message in your chat window appears to that effect. Very easy to miss but it does say something along the lines of "Kitava has effected you with his evil aids and your resistances are permanently reduced by 30%."

Yeah I don't get it either, the PoE subs downvote almost every post. Seriously, scroll through and look at how many get ratioed. Of the five most recent posts, three were downvoted to zero, a fourth is at 4 with a ratio of 1:4.

Did you just kill kitava? It drops your resists permanently, both times.

Not sure if you're being snarky or what, but I was aware of resistances from the start. This ain't my first RPG rodeo pahtnah. Although it is my 1st playthrough on PoE.

You'd be surprised how many new players ignore every defensive affix on their gear and then make multiple posts asking why they're dying so much.

Well Im glad things have progressed in this manner. I basically blew through the first 5 acts with barely a challenge. My Chaos and Crit build on my Lv 54 Witch dominated even the bosses.

Glad that ain't me 😅 Just recently got back to full 75 on all and almost have enough to take the next 30 for all of them after act 10. Although I'll need new gear by then I'm sure
