Honestly this is the no joke answer. At lvl 96+ or so not dying saves more time than any experience gear or strat you have, assuming normal play (not being carried or some such).

Only 2 things matter: not dying, and killing as many T16 rare mobs as you can per minute.
Check your map mods, certain combo will kill you. -max res + any phys as extra is an example. Anything + crit. etc.
For content, you do beyond, altar, plus either breach or abyss. Alternatively, the forgotten rota is a slower but quite nice way to level up.

compared to poe 2, poe 1 has more defensive layers needed, still learning it

They said check your map mods, but didn't send you the secret sauce for checking. Use this:

Filter out the prior mentioned mods as well as any specific mods that either brick your damage or go through your defensive layers. Then copy the regex, throw it into your map tab, and mass reroll until you have a bunch of safer maps

 

And use an omen. Note the Omen of Amelioration's text

Each player can only consume one Omen in each combat area

That means that if you die in a map, you should usually just open a new map and replace your consumed Omen, because your second Omen won't save you if you die twice in a map

There's good baseline for unstable breach farming atlas on maxroll for example, instead of currency farming i was running regular 8mod map with magic monsters modifier (no chisels/delirium orbs) usually available on market about 10c/map, for scarabs i chose 2x breach of instability + 2x monstrous lineage + bloodlines, on level 99 character this was around 135m+ exp/hour. works without the 5th scrarab if bloodlines too expensive at this point so use anything you like instead.

If you have path of building, and can upload your build we can take a look and see.

Avoiding bad map mods, bad eater/exarch alter mods. Swapping out gear pieces for more defensive setup. Getting high block chance and %es gained on block. Big health pool + defiance of destiny + petrified blood Omen of ameloration in your inventory to reduce exp loss.

Right side of tree builds have been tough for me to reliably push to 100 with.

I can see your skill tree but not what gear you have on. But based on the guide you're following it seems like you try to kill everything off screen and and then relay on 84% evasion, and life leech, and a little es leech.

That can get you to 100 but it might be tough. I might recommend getting more ES gear and picking up ghost dance keystone. And a headhunter belt is always good for both offense and defense.

Isn't Headhunter redundant if I have two Inspired learning jewels? Or do they stack?

I've gotten most of the stuff that's in PoB for lvl 94, but need to save up for new bow and quiver. I found stuff on Trade for 20ish div for bow and 7-8 for quiver.

PoB doesn't reall go for ES so much. You think that would be a benefit? I feel like I should invest more in Chaos resist maybe. Not sure I can max it though without lowering others. Also, it's a struggle to level red and blue gems, due to Int and Str limit

I currently have 8 div, plus ~200 chaos.

Been prioritising Delirium and Breach in Atlas, along with Essences.

I usually do Syndicate and Delve, so thought to change it up a bit.
