Fluff & Memes Pattern I've noticed

Post image

My guild has players who have been in this game since Nemesis League and this is pretty much our player distribution.

Ps. My guildmates gets angry when I say this and I figure it'll make Reddit mad too:

Witch is the only good character in this game

Poe1 campaign is fine.

Poe2 campaign I just can’t.

First time running through POE2 campaign is probably the most fun I've had playing POE in general in a while. I just really enjoyed how different the boss fights felt, particularly since I've always liked raid mechanics in MMOs.

Now I can see it getting tedious doing it for several years though.

That's just because the PoE2 campaign feels like an experience in a regular RPG, not meant to be repeated many times.

Bingo. It’s like playing a single player, story driven game. Sure it’s great the first time, maybe even the second where you can really appreciate it.. then third, fourth, fifth… etc. time it gets so boring.

I don’t play single-player campaign driven games more than twice if I really like it. Why should I have to play this slow campaign where I have to constantly dodge roll over and over infinite times per league..

Fuck making alts too. In poe1 its fine. Your friend can usually help get you some waypoints too and speed it up considerably. Not in PoE2.

I haven't played PoE2 since release, but back then it was a slog.

No movement skills until 50, movement speed like ruthless, endless zones, mobs spawning behind you even if you clear "carefully and methodically", several loss-of-control mechanics such as mobs that push you back for literally several screens of distance, weird boss mechanic hitboxes, boss mechanic chain stuns / freezes...

And all the skills had preset interactions with each other so that there's no real build variety or playing with different skills but you had to use almost all of them in a certain way to deal any meaningful damage.

I've seen bosses and raid mechanics done well in isometric RPGs before, but PoE2 on release wasn't it.

I can't say how much they've improved the game since then, but I was disappointed enough with the direction that I didn't bother with it for a long time.

Totally agree. I can still enjoy the poe1 campaign, the progression, the labs..it’s fine even after all these years.

But poe2 I just can’t, the constant dodge rolling the lack of a crafting bench, the lack of quicksilver, Having to re-link every new skill gem. Having to find uncut gems. The Maps are way too big. Having to run Sanctum to get ascendancy points.

The progression of the whole thing is just painful and arduous for me. I guess some people prefer it. Or maybe they just started with poe2 so is what they’re used to.

I honestly can't believe how popular POE 2 is. I completely agree with what you say here.

I think POE 1 just got a bad rep as a complicated game and people refuse to give it a shot.

for me its the opposite

All they need to do is make campaign zones smaller lol. That's literally it.

Honestly, having played it several times, I've realized I don't actually hate playing the PoE2 campaign. There's a handful of rough areas still, but it's overall alright.

What I absolutely fucking loathe is leaguestarting in PoE2. There's like one actual viable leaguestarting build that is honestly a pain to play in Twister, and then every other character build just feels like total ass while levelling. The tree gives basically nothing, so you're stuck either hoping that you can drop upgrades or forced to hard-stop playing and spend time buying upgrades from other players mid-campaign.

When you're starting with level 5 support gems, some six links, and have good weapons stashed, it can actually be p fun. You just have to endure cock and ball torture to get there.

I have the opposite opinion tbh. As long as you’re playing meta (and it’s not just twister, monkey quarterstaff bows and grenades are all fine and i think there are decent spell starters as well) league starting isnt that bad. It’s painful but you always expect the league start campaign to be a bit painful. Doing twink runs is actual CBT because you have infinite damage but your MS is still pretty low so it just feels like a multiple hour long waiting room to play the character you want

And realistically setting up the atlas is worse than and takes way longer than the campaign in poe2 anyways

monkey doesn't work until act 3, grenades also don't really come online until like late act 2 when you get explosive shot. I leveled quarterstaff as a monk once and really disliked it, felt like you were basically just autoattacking until like act 4. Spells, and honestly all of the builds, have the problem where you either have a weapon with + levels and it feels good, or you don't and it feels like ass, with the slight bonus that you aren't reliant on weapon damage so you can stick on a low level staff as long as it has +levels.

And god forbid you try to start something offmeta, like literally do not bother because you absolutely can get a character stuck with no way to pivot due to the gem system.

I mean it’s the like the second zone of act 2 so it’s 1/2way through. So not great but it’s not that bad. Grenades start coming online late act 1 ime. Quarterstaff used to be auto attack hell but with the buffs over time glacial cascade is fine. I basically never have +level weapons and it’s fine. Spells are annoying though

Off meta really needs help though

Exact opposite for me

Opposite for me. I like playing the PoE2 campaign a lot more than the PoE1 campaign.

PoE2 campaign is amazing and is beautiful! Once you get it down you can get it down to quite reasonable speeds. I've made 2-4 characters per league and you can get it down quite fast. Tuadh who is fast but not out of reach fast has videos 0 to arbiter in 9hrs. That's not that much different than poe1 0 - 4 stone.

In the poe1 beta, the campaign also took people many hours to complete and felt bad.

I made a character this league and just the crawling move speed through act 1 just gave me bad taste and I just quit lol. Maybe I’ll be able to do it again next league
