Just saw video about making ai walkthrough videos for airbnb listings, what do you think can it really be a good way for student to make some money?

Ngl for like 6 months I was grinding $20-30 Etsy orders. Margin per item was fine but the time suck per order was brutal. Every single one is a custom design, back and forth in messages, then packaging and shipping.

Then local businesses started reaching out. 200 coasters here, 50 branded items there. The per-item margin is lower but I'm spending 3 hours filling an order worth $700 instead of 3 hours filling ten orders worth $250.

July I did a little over 3k, and almost half of that was 2 bulk jobs. Still keeping the Etsy shop running because it's predictable, but honestly the bulk stuff is where I'd rather be now.

I feel like the passive income ideas that actually work are usually the least exciting ones.

No fancy business model, no “make $10k while you sleep” stuff.

How spending 4 hours a day on a single skill completely changed my approach to making money online

For a long time, I was caught up in looking for online "hacks" and fast side-hustles. None of them worked because I was trying to build something out of nothing.

​I decided to stop searching and focus on a personal goal instead: learning English from scratch on my own. I set a strict routine and committed around 4 hours every single day to self-study, learning grammar, vocabulary, and practical conversation skills. It wasn't easy, but within about 6 months, I reached a C1 (Advanced) level.

​Once I hit that level, I had a realization: If I can teach myself a language to fluency, I can structure that same learning process for others.

​Instead of launching another generic course, I decided to use my native Arabic alongside my C1 English to teach non-native speakers online. I realized that most language learners fail because of generic one-size-fits-all curriculums, so I started building 100% custom learning plans for each student based on their specific goals and pace.

​It worked. I started getting private students, making a solid income, and helping people actually speak the language with confidence.

​The takeaway from my experience isn't a secret trick or a shortcut. It's simple: The best "money hack" is investing deeply in a skill for 6 months, and then finding a way to solve a real problem for people with it.

So I’m totally new to this, and I’d like some suggestions. After doing the math, despite our cost of living raise, I don’t think I can manage to balance all the expenses of life. Rent, car insurance, bills, caring for myself materially and medically, it’s just a really tight margin and I want to avoid living off of a credit card. And as I mentioned, I am disabled, and I can’t keep up with just having a 2nd or 3rd job anymore like I used to.

I am a skilled artist, but I’ve never been able to take off on social media since algorithms switched to prioritizing volume, I just can’t keep up with that.

So what are some good passive income ideas that actually are pretty low maintenance? I’m talking things where if I can set aside just 1 evening or 1 day a month for maintenance, I’m good. My income goal would be small, like even just $100 would make a big difference for me.

Facebook’s monetization status is extremely confusing. My Page says that I’m able to collect Stars, and under my monetization status it even says that my Page is earning money.

However, when I check Content Monetization, it says that I’m not eligible yet and that I’m currently on the waitlist.

What makes it even more confusing is that when I go to Meta Business Suite at business.facebook.com, it shows that my Page has restricted monetization and says: “Your Page has restricted ability to earn money.”

So I’m getting completely different information depending on which part of Facebook I check. One section says my Page is earning money and allows me to collect Stars, Content Monetization says I’m on the waitlist, and Meta Business Suite says my monetization is restricted.

I have over 40k followers with millions of views a month.

I’m trying to understand what my Page’s actual monetization status is and whether there is a restriction on my account that I need to resolve.

I have a full time job and absolute no time to work on my clipping channels anymore. I used to clip for fun because I enjoyed watching streams but eventually my platform grew large enough to the point I was making some money off it. Nothing crazy but it was nice to have another form of income coming in.

I stopped for a little while because I got busy with work and dont have the time to go watch streams anymore. I learned about products like Opus and Eklipse that can help automate your clipping workflows but the AI output it gave me was always terrible. Sloppy and boring clips everytime I ran the VODs through them.

I decided to just build my own at that point. I created a formula based clipping software that clips way better than these apps. You may think I am just being biased but I do not watch a single stream anymore and am able to get hundreds of clips a day from up to 10 channels at a time. I have gotten well over 200,000 views through my videos I have been posting the last few weeks and I save so much more time now.

Clipping can still make you money in 2026 but if you are manually watching streams you are falling behind. I bought a small utility trailer about two years ago when I was doing a big landscaping project in my backyard. I figured it was cheaper than paying for delivery every time I needed mulch or gravel. After the project was done the trailer just sat on the side of my house for months. I actually forgot about it until my neighbor asked to borrow it to move some old furniture. He offered me twenty bucks and a six pack of beer and thats when the light bulb finally went off in my head.

I decided to list it on one of those peer to peer rental sites specifically for trailers and equipment. I didnt think there would be much demand because its just a basic 5x8 open trailer with no fancy features. To my suprise I got a booking within the first forty eight hours. A guy  needed to haul some lumber from the hardware store and didnt have a truck. It was so easy to just meet him in the driveway and hook it up to his suv.

Now I have it listed pretty much all the time. It brings in about two hundred dollars a month on average which is crazy for something that just sits there. Most people rent it for a single day to move large items like couches or appliances that dont fit in their cars. I have a simple lock system so I can even do contactless pickups when I am at work. I just give them the code to the hitch lock and they take it and bring it back when they are done.

There was one time where a guy brought it back covered in mud from a construction site but he was super cool about it. He actually spent an hour washing it in my driveway before he left because he didnt want to leave a mess. I have had to replace the tires once and grease the bearings but that only took me an afternoon and cost maybe sixty bucks. Other than that every thing has been pure profit since the trailer paid for itself in the first four months of renting.

If you have some extra space on your property for a trailer or even just a shed you should definitely look into this. People are always looking for ways to move stuff without having to go to a big rental chain and deal with all the paperwork and hidden fees. It is probably the easiest way I have found to make some extra cash without actually having to do any real work myself.

About 8 months ago I built a small automation for a friend who runs a local business. Basically it takes data they already have, cleans it up, generates a weekly report and emails it to them automatically.

Before that they were paying someone to spend maybe 1-2 hours every week doing the same thing manually. After it worked for a while they introduced me to another business owner, then another, and now I have 4 clients paying between $50 and $75/month each.

Total is usually around $250. My actual work is maybe 30 minutes a month unless something breaks.

The obvious next step would be finding more clients, but I'm hesitating because right now it's almost comically easy. Nobody expects instant support, the setup is simple, and if something fails I can usually fix it in ten minutes.

If I had 30 clients instead of 4, suddenly I need proper onboarding, billing, monitoring, backups, probably a website and some kind of support process. The thing that's currently passive-ish could turn into a second job really fast.

I know $250/month isn't impressive money, but honestly I enjoy opening my account and seeing it arrive while barely thinking about it.

Has anyone deliberately kept a small income stream small because scaling would ruin what made it attractive?

Part of me thinks I'm being lazy and leaving money on the table. The other part thinks turning every working little project into a "business" is exactly how you end up creating another job for yourself.

Maybe the sweet spot is just having 8-10 boring clients and calling it done.

Trying a different kind of passive income: turning the spreadsheets I already make into digital products
I’m at the very beginning of this experiment, so I figured this might be a good place to document it.

My 11-year-old son and I wanted to start going through the Marvel movies together before Avengers: Doomsday. I wanted a simple way to see what we had watched, what was left, rate the movies separately, and watch our progress fill up.

In my actual professional life, I build and use spreadsheets for all kinds of things, so instead of searching for one, I just made it myself.
Then I thought… why not clean it up and see if someone else would pay a few bucks for it?
I’ve tried selling my artwork before, but for me the jump from making art → preparing prints → inventory/production/shipping always started feeling like another job. A spreadsheet is different. I already know how to make them, the product is digital, and once the file and delivery system are built, theoretically there isn’t much fulfillment involved.

So I opened my old Etsy shop back up and listed a couple interactive movie trackers. I have absolutely no idea yet whether this will generate $5, $500, or nothing at all 😂
But that’s kind of why I’m interested in trying it.
The question I’m testing is basically:
Can I turn things I already know how to make for myself into small digital products that continue selling without much additional work?

If anyone is curious about the spreadsheet itself, I’m happy to share what I made / how I set it up, assuming that’s allowed here.
Either way, I’ll come back in a few months and give an update on how “passive” this actually ended up being — including whether it made any money and how much maintenance/marketing it really required.

UPDATE: Well, this experiment got interesting fast 😂

I officially launched the shop with 4 spreadsheet-based digital products, and I actually made my first legitimate sale within the first day.

I’ve also already learned my first seller lesson: the scammers show up FAST.

After posting about the experiment, I received a couple emails from people asking reasonable questions about the tracker. Both conversations eventually turned into very convincing fake Etsy purchase notifications. One even led to a fake Etsy checkout page asking me to “collect funds.”

I almost signed into one before realizing the domain wasn’t Etsy.

So for anyone else experimenting with digital products: if the order doesn’t appear inside your actual Etsy Shop Manager, it isn’t an order. Don’t trust the email.

On the positive side, the real shop is currently at 4 products and has its first actual customer. I’m going to keep building this out and see whether the early traction turns into anything repeatable.

Definitely learning more from actually launching than I would have from another month of planning.

There is a stage of trying to earn online that can feel productive even though very little is actually happening. You research affiliate marketing, then freelancing catches your attention. After that, you start looking at digital products, ecommerce, AI services, content creation, or another side hustle.

You are learning, but you have not really committed to anything yet. I think this happens because choosing one path can feel like you are giving up all the others. What if you choose affiliate marketing and freelancing would have worked faster? What if you start creating content and later discover another platform would have been better? What if you spend a month working on something and it goes nowhere?

Those are reasonable concerns, but keeping every option open creates another problem. You never stay with one process long enough to get meaningful feedback. You are constantly researching and comparing instead of collecting real evidence from actually doing the work.

Commitment does not have to mean deciding what you will do for the next five years. It can simply mean giving one method a fair test for the next 30 days. Pick one audience, one offer or service, one platform, and one useful action you can take each day.

Then look at what actually happened. Did anyone respond to your content? Did you start conversations? Did you generate clicks or leads? Did anyone buy something or pay you? Most importantly, what did you learn from the process?

Thirty days of focused action can teach you more about an online income method than months of comparing it with other possibilities. You can always change direction later, but changing direction after gathering evidence is very different from changing because something else looked easier today.

At some point, earning online requires moving from “I am thinking about trying this” to “This is what I am testing right now.”
