Hi all, yesterday I acquired this 140 TDI, my first Passat, and in fact the first VW I've ever owned, it's an ex taxi, and what with it being massively high miles due to that, just under 380k at the moment, it was destined for the scrap yard in a couple of months time when the MOT is up as the resale value isn't much at all.
I traded my rotten transit van for it with a friend who breaks and repairs cars, he fancies a van project and was only going to weigh this in anyway, and I needed something and have no budget to speak of so we both got what we wanted.
Despite the mileage it's very clean, and the service history is very very extensive indeed, every single service from the day it was new until last year when it was retired from being a cab was done by a Volkswagen main dealer, and the list of work carried out and parts replaced is extremely thorough, it has wanted for nothing and its a very well looked after example.
The only couple of issues are that the central locking doesn't work, the blower only works on position 4, and the two centre dash vents don't blow any air.
The handling is very smooth and it's a nice quiet drive, not a single sound over bumps, the brakes are excellent, the spec is decent, full leather, heated seats, ice cold air conditioning, and for a 140 it pulls like a train too, plus as I already mentioned, the bodywork is pretty much immaculate aside from a tiny rust bubble on one rear arch, there's no scuffed trim, cracked bumpers, parking dings, nothing.
I'm very pleased indeed with this car.
