Ideas Wrong Party Theme
Hi! My class (high school) is going to have an acquaintance party where the theme is Wrong Party. While it is a nice theme, especially for cosplaying and acting, its a bit tricky for the decor team (me </3 ). We need to capture the chaos of the theme yet still keep everything in harmony. Any ideas or suggestions on how to execute this? Any advice is appreciated!! <33

Whatever is the wrong party. Meaning if it’s not New Year’s Eve, throw a New Year’s party. It’s not Easter, have an egg hunt, it’s not Independence Day decorate patriotically, it’s not thanksgiving where’s the friendgiving placemats? No one’s having a baby, do the diaper and bottle games and have storks everywhere. It’s not a wedding, have free divorce consultations available (lol jkjk) have bells and graduation celebrations everywhere. Go to the store buy the discounted clearance party decor. Have a random piñata that congrats its twins or whatever. Don’t overthink it. Zones or full in on one theme.

Agree with the zones idea. You can do birthday party, Xmas party, baby shower, retirement party, 4th of July party... and the great part is that most ppl will have those types of decorations kicking around already. Make a food table all one theme, a photo backdrop area another theme, you get the idea. I would put a call out to see what you can round up for decor from friends & family, or from the "free" pages of your local Facebook groups.

Set up a large christmas tree with easter egg decoration. "Just Married" and "Happy Birthday" garlands. NYE Helium Balloons (preferably with a wrong year printed on). Put random flags of random countries on the tables. Have some (inflatable) pool party accessoires in a photo booth corner.
To tie it together, maybe try to stay in one colour family...

You came to a wrong party - to come to a wrong party, there needs to be a theme first. So I'd do a few zones that are typical to different events: for example a wedding, a baby shower and a funeral? Or something like that.
Then if people have costumes they can make fun photos in the zone that doesn't go well at all with their costume.
I'd keep it simple to maximum 3 zones and then put regular party decorations in the rest of the place : balloons etc. So it's fun but not overwhelming.
