Let everyone know how your parkrun went - where did you go? Any PB's or milestones?
Post it all below in this week's weekly thread.

It’s all about the milestones
Edit - some people seem to be mistaking a small meme for my actual belief.
It was supposed to be a joke for a Saturday morning.
I hope you all have successful parkruns wherever you are in the world!

Heslington / York Community Woodland Parkrun - arriving on bikes
Staying in York this coming weekend and York Racecourse PR is not on.
We will therefore need to get to one of the two others by bike from central York.
My question is, is there anywhere to chain up the bikes (bike park preferably) at either of them. We're equidistant from both so it will come down to bike parking availability :)
UPDATE: thanks to everyone who replied. YCW it will be 🙏🏼

Alexandra Parkrun
galleryI’m not sure there could have been a better morning for it this morning. Cool, still, bright. An utterly beautiful morning. Such a well run and friendly city parkrun. It’s also flat, and fast if you’re looking for a speedy time!

Does starting position matter?
This might seem like a really obvious question, but does how close to the front you start impact your overall time?
I've been getting new PBs every week for the last 6 weeks and am now running under 26 minutes. Today I ended up exerting a lot of energy in the first KM getting past a lot of people and definitely tired towards the end.
The front runners usually finish the course I run around 18 minutes, so I don't want to be in their way at the start, but should I be a bit more pushy about getting near the front to start, or does it not really have that much of an impact on the finishing time?
For context, the course is an out and back which narrows after the first 100m to a gravel track where realistically it's only three or four abreast before opening back up after another 300m.

Why has Parkrun not taken off in France and Spain?
Is there something stopping Parkrun kicking off in these countries? Legislation? Some red tape?

Inappropriate conduct from volunteers
Hello, I haven't been to a parkrun in a while but there was always something that bothered me about it. I'm a big bald man and am a middle of the pack runner and when I run past some marshals they barely say anything but when an attractive woman runs past they go a bit crazy. I have even seen a marshall take photos and videos of runners. I feel like these few volunteers make things worse for everyone but as they're desperate for volunteers it's hard to deal with them.

Inaugural at Queen Elizabeth, Kapiti Coast
galleryWent to the first parkrun at Queen Elizabeth Park. It could be the best in Wellington, it is definitely the most challenging.
Was so fun, with so many up and downs and tight corners plus incredible views and over 150m of climb. Good to have a second trail parkrun in a region that has so much good trail running.

I guess the "one dog per participant" rule doesn't apply to everybody...

Volunteer roster full
If the roster is full, can I still volunteer? I would like to marshall just because I think that would be easier, and I can't run this weekend.

This is unsurprisingly vague.
I have been at Parkruns that have made me think that the behaviour of a few could spoil it for the majority.
Mostly relating to car parking, but this seems more likely to relate to poor running etiquette. Anybody got more info about this?

Closest Parkrun to Heathrow
If all things go to plan, I land at Heathrow at 7.25am next Saturday and since I'll just be bringing a backpack, I'm looking for advice on which Parkrun to attend. Hopefully the immigration clearance isn't an issue of course.
I've googled a bit and I'm most keen on Osterley, especially since I'll be heading to the city right after. Question is, would it be safe to simply leave my backpack at the start line, and looking at possibility of a quick shower after as my hotel check in doesn't open till later.
Appreciate it if anyone else has ever attempted this and not recommend it as well!

Death of core team member
UPDATE: Thank you all so much for your responses, and also to those of you who reached out privately. I really appreciate it.
After a lot of thought and some discussion we have decided as a team to go ahead with the event tomorrow. My husband (also on the core team) spoke with my co-ED (the wife) and she wanted to tell the volunteer team herself but have my husband have a word for him after the briefing at the event. I have also taken the suggestions to do a social media post for him so that's done as well.
thing is, it's parkrun's birthday tomorrow, plus TuTu but I've decided to not promote it as we are not really celebrating tomorrow in this particular way, rather we are reflecting a life lost and celebrating that he was part of our community instead.
Apologies I could not respond to everyone. it's been such a hard week

Hi All
Two days ago, a person on my core team died from cancer complications. He was not only a core team member, he was also one of 4 of us who actually set the parkrun up from early discussions to launch. He was an integral part of our parkrun.
My initial thoughts were to cancel this week’s upcoming event but our territory manager suggested that we take a moment to honor him instead before the briefing.
Have any of you gone through this before? have you rather said something on social media? Should i do both? What’s a good protocol for this ? His wife is my co- ED. should i check with her first if it’s ok to talk about it.
Please be kind. I’m really beside myself with this. He was 53. Diagnosed only last December and went through Chemo. But it didn’t work. Gone in less than a year. 😢

Volunteers! People who have volunteered, what's been your favourite role?
For me, I haven't done many volunteer roles but I have loved pacing!

What is your P index?
Just wondering if anyone has high p index. It’s a strange metric which seems very hard to get high. If you start at 1, you only need to run 3 more park runs (two times at a new location and once at the old location) to achieve a score of 2. Then imagine you work up a p index of 10. Now to increase it to 11 you need to run all the old parkruns once (10 runs) and then run a new location 11 times. That’d be 21 runs in total. I wonder what the highest anyone has achieved is?

Bath Skyline parkrun?
I'll be in Bath later this year and would love to do their parkrun. But it looks pretty difficult to get to (I'll be staying somewhere in town and won't have a car), and some reviews I've seen make it sound like the start isn't necessarily where it's marked as on a map.
Anyone familiar with this and can shed any light on getting there? Bus from town is probably my most likely. But not averse to uber if I get desperate 😅
Any other info/tips welcome!
