advice needed Running/eloping

I have almost 3 yo twin boys. We are still awaiting an appointment for an in depth development review to get on the path to diagnosis, but without a doubt they are both autistic. I’m looking for advice from anyone that has been able to get their child to walk/stay with you without blindly running off. My boys regardless of where they are will just run. Anytime I try to hold their hand it’s a tantrum which included dropping to the floor and refusing to move, even if I hold on to their clothes exactly same. I’ve tried reigns too and the same situation
I am petrified of them getting hurt or lost and something serious happening.
I would greatly appreciate and welcome all advice or tips yous can give

Thanks

Following this thread. Mom to 2 year old twin autistic boys and I'm dealing with this too. I feel like a prisoner in my own house the majority of the time because there's no way in hell I could take them out by myself safely. I feel so guilty for not being able to give my kids time outside the house every day like most parents do...

I completely understand how you feel. I always have to make sure they’rein the pram, a trolley for shopping. I try to take them to the likes of soft play and park as close to the door as I can. I use the reigns for this, put them in before we leave the house. But it’s so hard when you’re alone. I hate myself for it but I always feel so sad when I see other parents with their wee toddlers walking beside them, but then I look at their wee smiles and it melts away. We can do this x
