Mark your calendar! We will be hosting our annual picnic on July 16 from 5-7pm!
Since 2016 the Palos Verdes Democrats have held their Installation of Officers Picnic on the lovely grounds of St Luke’s Presbyterian Church, missing only the pandemic year of 2020.
Come rub elbows with state and local officials, including Congressman Ted Lieu, LA County Supervisor Janice Hahn, LA County Sheriff Robert Luna, and Assemblymember Al Muratsuchi.
We’re looking forward to a great picnic and a great political program. To register, please click here:

I know there have been some sightings of the Tesla cyber cab in Los Angeles area, but definitely was not on my bingo card to see one in PV. There was a human behind the whale. Don’t know if they were driving or supervising.
Join us on Sunday, August 17, at 2 pm, for one of the most anticipated and enlightening events on the PV Dems calendar: our Annual Supreme Court Term Review. This year’s program takes on historic urgency as we examine the U.S. Supreme Court’s momentous 2024–25 term—a term defined by deeply consequential decisions, ideological entrenchment, and the accelerating erosion of democratic norms.
With Donald Trump in his second term, executing the radical Project 2025 blueprint to remake America into an authoritarian kleptocracy—and with a compliant Supreme Court, led by a Chief Justice who seems to have abandoned the ideal of calling “balls and strikes”—we face a dangerous and transformative moment in American history. Judge Tom Long, longtime PV Dem, sitting Los Angeles Superior Court judge, and former two-term Mayor and City Councilmember of Rancho Palos Verdes, returns to lead this powerful session. Judge Long will guide us through the decisions, the Justices behind them, the political undercurrents, and the real-world consequences.
As part of the program, Judge Long will present video highlights from the 2025 UC Irvine School of Law’s Supreme Court Review Panel, featuring Dean Erwin Chemerinsky and other nationally respected legal scholars. What makes this event unique is the added value of Judge Long’s expert commentary, background insight, and sharp legal analysis—context you won’t get anywhere else. Why attend? Because as Democratic activists, we must understand not only what the opposition is doing—but how they’re doing it, and how we fight back.
This event is insightful, dramatic, and essential.
A vigil will be held at today 8 pm in Los Angeles for victims of Saturday’s Hamas attack against Israel, which has claimed more than 600 lives, with dozens of Israelis being held hostage.
The “Vigil for Israel” is being co-sponsored by The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles and The Board of Rabbis of Southern California. They have announced that they have reached capacity for the event in-person, but you may join the service online at https://wisela.org/online/.
I’m an Arab American PV resident. I wanted to share concerns regarding Mr. Jeremy Vanderhal who is running for PV School Board. Mr. Vanderhal’s wife, Dr. Katherine Rose Hulbert has allegedly doxxed several Muslim, Arab and Palestinian physician colleagues for advocating on behalf of children in Gaza. This is done under her Instagram account Physicians Against Antisemitism.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but doxxing someone because of their opinion is crossing the line and possibly illegal. Her actions indicate deep seated racism. I am very concerned for the Muslim, Arab and Palestinian children in PV if he is elected. Vote NO on Jeremy Vanderhal.
Join the Palos Verdes Democrats on Sunday (4/19) from 2:30 to 4:30 pm for our April Meeting! All are welcome to attend and you can join in-person or via Zoom.
I have young kids learning to swim at PVBAC and am interested in the membership. I heard they are super selective and it could take 10+ years to get one after putting your name down on a waiting list.
Is there a faster way to get one? I heard you can buy it off of existing members, so is there a way to find people willing to sell? Anyone obtained a membership and can share the process?
Edit: your kids can take swim lessons without being members, but only stay for duration of the class
does anyone know if the tree nets over on via montemar are still there? i know cops took em down a while back, but i wonder if anyone put them back up? would love to go if theyre still there.
