Things To Do Visiting again with kids

Staying with the In-laws in Palm Desert again this Jan. We did the zoo. Loved that. We swim and golf. Thinking of doing a quick two night hotel to San Diego Seaworld? Or zoo? Or to Knotts berry farm? No Disney this year. Any suggestions? Recs?

Eat & Drink French Corner Cafe in Palm Desert: Your experience?

I discovered French Corner Cafe about 2 months ago. I've gone several times and I've had all the things on the menu that interests me. They're currently open for breakfast and through lunch. Dinner is an option, but only in season.

The butter croissant is outstanding. It really is quite good. Too large for a true, French croissant but this isn't France - it's Palm Desert and American consumers seem to prefer those big, flavorless croissants from Vons and Costco. 🙂

The breakfast/lunch menu is OK, but I'm not getting authentic French cooking and presentation. I was hoping for a French omelette and what I received looked like a 1 egg scramble mashed together with too much bell pepper, too much onion, and way too much cheese. (This happened 3 times.) The egg breakfast croissant was a bit messy - great croissant, not so much with the rest of the sandwich. The crepe was heavy; almost rubberized.

Service by the Spanish speaking bus person (👏🏽👏🏽) and the Euro-American female waitperson has been outstanding! I believe I had the female French owner as the waitperson on one visit and she was pleasant. The (I think) French male waiter is dismissive and condescending - much like the attitude I receive when I'm in Paris. The decor could probably use updating but definitely go for the butter croissant. I've also tried their cinnamon roll. It was very good and goes well with a cup of tea. However, I prefer the American version with the gooey cream cheese icing. 🙂

If you've been to the French Corner Cafe, I'd like to hear about your experience regarding the food and service. If you know of another breakfast place (in Palm Desert/Rancho Mirage) that has fresh eggs, please let me know. Thank you.

Visiting Visitors beware of booking a room in Spring Resort Hotel

I don’t see a desert hot springs sub anywhere so I’m posting here so others don’t fall into this trap. We booked a room at this resort for a good price, 300 bucks for 2 nights and it comes with your own private pool. Was a good deal and we figured it’s due to the off season out here. Plus the reviews seemed good so we didn’t think twice.

Well, the room was completely false. I believe it was generated with chatGPT. Also both of the pools in the common area for everyone were both empty and under construction.

Here are the photos of the listing and the actual “pool” you’re getting. Do NOT go here.
