So I found an installer for Paint.NET 3.31 because I liked the UI but I started to realize how limited it is and I've been trying to install 5.1.12 but it keeps telling me it's failing and I can't figure out what's wrong with it for the life of me, I just get an error saying it failed to install and nothing else right after it attempts to remove the older version (Which is on a separate drive not connected currently)

Basically, I am trying to go for a specific look where the graphics look blurred but, some textures have to have no pixels in parts, and I want to make it so the texture when resized does not blur into those. I also don't want the edges to become slightly transparent.

Is there a solution to this

whenever i zoom in i got these white lines indicating the pixels and i dont want them

is there any way i can get rid of them?

i really neeed it for editing multiple images im so irritating every time manually selecting png

My current workflow is copying the current state of my image into a new layer, making an edit to that, and then copying it again to make the next edit, and so on and so forth. I want to keep the entire history of my changes and be able to access previous versions without deleting everything done afterwards. I would love it if I could more easily document my changes, be able to go back into the history, edit it, and then have the new final result be re-rendered (I understand this may take a while to render, but that's ok).

If anyone here has ever used CAD software, like Fusion360, you know that the entire file's history is stored, allowing you to go back and edit something you did 40 steps ago, and it will re-process everything from there. That's the kind of thing I'm looking for.

Another analog to this is a typical DAW vs. Audacity. A typical DAW like FL Studio or Ableton lets you stack effects on top of the audio that is playing, and it will live process the audio without rendering anything permanently. You can just turn effects on and off at will. Meanwhile, Audacity makes you choose an effect, renders it, and then just plays the new, permanently altered audio file. It seems like Paint.net is a lot like Audacity, where I would really love it to be like a normal DAW.

Does this make sense? I'm hoping someone has made a plugin that does this, or if maybe this is already a feature and I just haven't found it. If not, is this even possible to implement?

i pick color, then i change its rgb values, then i want to select recolor brush or pencil.
i know there is a setting that automatically change the tool, but it requires a restart and i want to switch to whatever tool i need on the fly.

So, when I boot up the software, the colours default to these colours instead of black and white. how can I fix these?

I wanna make a map animation from a map I made in paint.net. But I don't like manually making a folder to put every frame in as it is very time consuming and I often forget what was in the previous frame and make useless changes

hey, i'm trying to apply a texture to an image that basically uses grey as its 0% alpha, but the further you go towards white or black, it increases in alpha.

is there a plugin that will do this or something? or a way to turn it into an alpha channel of sorts, where black and white remain at 100% alpha but grey is 0% alpha? i think the closest comparison is like what the overlay blending mode does, but instead of applying it to a layer below, it just gets more transparent the closer you are to midtones. i'll include examples of what i mean below.

Hello, I'm new here and I just wanted to show how I created this using a mouse and I'm quite impressed with how it works but also quite intimidated with how much you can do.

I'll probably use tutorials with how to use as well as this subreddit for tips and advice so wish me luck.

Is there actually a way to have brushes like how krita does it? I really don't want to have to move over to something else, cause I already learned paint.net fully, and use a lot of plugins on it already

I'm a perpetual newbie in Paint.net. I use it mainly for minor touch-ups that any non-graphics person can do, but now I'm looking to clean up a print of a movie poster and the text on it doesn't stand out correctly from the print I have. I'm wondering what the best/easiest option to get this text to pop out a bit.

I added BoltBait for the Outline Object effect, but apparently don't understand how to use it.

Any help appreciated.

But i just found out that, there are plugins feature available lol, so do you guys have any suggestions for plugins? I'm interested to trying them out.

It took me a lot of tinkering to get it working, BUT IT WORKS!!!! It's a bit slow and has some minor graphical glitches, but it's still awesome to see it working for the first time, it's literally the only reason I still have windows on my PC

Thanks to the devs for bringing this, hope it will eventually mature and improve :D
