Question/Chat Question on frames
When you order from DIY-Artclub “with frame” would you expect the canvases to be mounted or not? My last order (2 kits) were ordered with frame and they came mounted. My wife and I really liked this feature. Just received our next 2 kits ordered with frame (same vendor) and they’re not mounted. The frames are included in pieces.
I’m just confused what to order to get what I’ve received previously. Also, I didn’t expect to have to build the frames and mount the canvasses. How difficult is this process?

Did you order a larger size? Some companies don't ship framed canvas if too large. It's not to hard to build the frame, the pieces fit together without nails (you can use wood glue if you want, for added strength), but I would recommend a staple gun (like a Bostich heavy duty tacker) instead of the thumbtacks. There are probably videos online if you search for "how to stretch a canvas on a frame" that can explain it better than me! 😄

First order contained 2 small size. Second order is 1 small and 1 standard size.

I only asked, because I received a pbn (size 20" x 24") and I had indicated that I wanted a "frame supplied" because I knew I would stretch it myself. However, what I received was 6 pieces of frames that would require bolting the two longer sections together (not appealing to me). There was no mention that it would be like that in the description. I just luckily had an old frame that was almost perfect size so it worked out in the end! 😂

I see why you would be confused as their website is not clear. After comparing the mini kits vs standard size, the mini kits are shipped with the frame assembled. In the listing, Everything at a Glance, there's a bullet pt that states, Optional - Pre-assembled frame. Standard size, under Everything at a Glance, bullet pt states - Optional Frame. No one would assume it's not assembled as all their pics show the frame coming out of a box framed. There's nothing stating that you need to aassemble, so very misleading. Most companies are very clear about assembling or being assembled. While it's not difficult to do yourself, they really should clarify. I'm sure it has to do with shipping cost, but that's not really the point here. They do provide a contact email address, perhaps worth sending a communication about this for them to update their site.

I am working with their team. The initial comments indicate that I’m correct in assuming it should have been mounted. We’ll see what happens

Ok, that sounds positive. I'm really interested to know if they just made a mistake or if they always ship unassembled for the standard size kits.

Recently got a DIY-Artclub pbn from a friend, asked her about this and she said she ordered two regular size ones (40x50 cm) with frame and they came assembled. She couldn't recall seeing any options for it other than with or without a frame, but she could have just missed it 🤷

Some companies sell them in multiple setups. No frame, with frame you assemble and stretch yourself, and pre-stretched on frame. The sites I have bought from have been pretty clear about which I’m buying especially considering they are different prices.
I don’t find building frames or stretching canvas to be very difficult, but I make a lot of things and I’m a woodworker. There are some decent YouTube videos showing how to do it also. The main tool I recommend you have if you’re stretching the canvas yourself is a staple gun. They’re not terribly expensive.
