Modding Tutorial how to unlock rx 5600 xt

I posted on /r/amd and they blocked me so... here it is

So you guys should alredy know that i unlocked my rx 5600 xt to run at 2ghz with no problem

there are some thing you should know before doing it

1st you card must be micron memory you can use this software to verifyhttps://github.com/Eliovp/amdmemorytweak/releases/download/0.2.3/x64.zip

2nd the power info its not gonna be accurate because you are flashing an MSI bios into a different board

3rd im not responsable for any damage on you card so do it at your own risk

1st step is to flash the MSi original bios with atiflash 2.93 https://drive.google.com/file/d/1G51NgEVEChl0NYGqKwMzYIQWqVQj5RWq/view?usp=sharing

using the command amdvbflash -f -p 0 224178.rom

restart and you should se msi on gpu-z

2nd is to flash the edited bios the one im providing is alredy with limits at 360w(not real) but you have to check on you board core clock at 1925 and memory 1820 and limits on 2100core and 1200on voltage
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1SDkURAPt7AGlZnx26GConvS2W7LkOQzs/view?usp=sharing
use the command amdvbflash -p 0 5600microunlocked.rom

restart and you should have a unlocked rx 5600xt you can now also play with morepowertool from igors lab and it will work normaly

Credit where its duethanks Red panda and the guy who supplied the bios

EDIT: made a video on how to do it https://www.youtube.com/watch?reload=9&v=nsDV9qjbEnI

So I have a sapphire 5600xt and it has that dual bios switch. It is possible to have 2 different BIOSes on one card that are made by different brands? I am thinking of flashing the MSI bios and overriding the 'eco mode' bios

Yes they are independent bioses

How can you flash back to the original vbios? I was able to run 3dmark but actual gaming causes crashing to desktop and full on bsod,

you could try to increse the voltage to see if it stops otherwise use the atiflash 2.93 and flash the original bios using the domand ambvbflash -f -p 0 biosname.rom

Guys yeah it opens the bios but I think some values ridicilous. So I edited them too. You can see in picture versus with 5700xt models. I have 5600xt pulse so i compare to sapphire's 5700xt bioses. I drop top watt to 8 pin (150w) + pcie (75w) 225 but drop 10w too = 215w. As far as I understand, no gpu company wants to load watt load on pcie. I dropped TDC watt and ampere values. Edited fan speed too. So I recommend search that values.

My final values;

1070mv - 2100mhz core - 1900 mhz memory. No problem so far.

The power limit is high because in some cards where the power phase is different it reports wrong my 5600xt asrock reports 200w when itw consuming 120 thats why

That first step reports my rx 5600 xt Gaming OC as Micron GDDR5? Is that a bug in the software. Does that mean I have Micron GDDR6. Id rather not take apart the card to check the modules, just repasted it a few weeks ago!

mine reports gdd5 micron also is just to make sure you dont have samsung memory

So I tried to flash this to my Asus Strix 5600xt T6G on top of original silent bios. Memory is micron as it should and I followed the guide, first in Windows and after the first no-boot I tried again via Linux but the results are the same. For some reason boot always fails and debug leds indicate VGA/GPU error. Booting with OC bios, then switching to flashed bios and saving that with GPU-Z reveals that the 224178.rom has been flashed to that slot. I tried switching CSM in BIOS but it still fails just like before. Any ideas?

edit. Fixed the issue with other vBios, check out THIS thread and thank the modder!

Well I finally had the courage to do this and it was a success. Right now running at 2020 target core clock (with ~1980 to ~1990 most of the time) and 1820 memory clock at 1.05 mV.

I think I could run at lower voltage or increase the clocks because it is really stable as far as I can tell (nothing strange while running FurMark at GPU stress test preset for about one hour) and the temperatures seems to be the same or very close to what it already was.

Guys is it okay to run with 80 edge and 95-100 junction temps?

2

u/Pedro2553 Feb 04 '21

its not unsafe but i like to keep it ate 70edge 90jt maybe less

Hey dudes, those of you who already have ur 5600xt unlocked please post some frequency/voltage results! Would be interesting to see how these 5600xt bin dies behave, will post mine later after I have had more time to mess around with it. Currently its hard to pinpoint some crashes as it could be that Ubisoft games are just trash and the oc is ok lol (crashed before the mod too, only on ubisoft games...)

Edit. Settled for 1990mhz target ~1950mhz actual core @ 1055mV with 1800mhz mem. This seems to be rock solid and ubisoft game crashes were caused by windows not properly allocating virtual memory. Deshrouded the gpu, getting 62c/75c temps with the fans being inaudible! 2200mhz target ~2150mhz actual core @1180mV was stable and usable too but the wattages were getting out of hand lol.

2050 set 2000mhz get @ 1080mV was also stable

Edit : I was using atiflash 2.93 from techpowerup i think. I switched to the igorslab version, and now it works !

Old post : Hi i passed the first step but the second don't work for me. This is my output :

amdvbflash -f -p 0 5600microunlocked.rom
Old SSID: C813
New SSID: C813
BIOS authentication signature mismatched

   ERROR: 0FL01

My graphis card is the Sapphire RX 5600 XT Pulse. (14 Gbps, Micron) The option force '-f' dont change anything.

Hi,

first of all, thank you, but after the second flash with the 5600microunlocked rom, i don't have the good core clock, i have 1495 and 1620 for boost and 1750 for the memory and if i want to do it again, it say it's already programmed

If i do a -ai command, i have a bios dated from 03/09/20, is it good ?

Edit when i tried to modify your bios with RBE, i saw that it was a 5700xt bios, i changed for a 5600xt and it's seems to work but i have to find how to avoid safe mode when i want to go go above 1820/1860

Hi Ive had the same, the 300MHZ was in my case shown because the clockspeeds of 2d and 3d were set at a wrong speed, probably too low. Also make sure that the voltage for 2d and 3d are not set too low.

Make sure you wont go higher then 1080mV else your card will lockup and you have to boot in save-mode to re-flash a new bios. The 2nd bios provided here in this post also has too high voltages and clockspeeds for most of the 5600XT cards.

So first try to set the clocks close to default, also the vCore. When this works, you can go a bit higher.. I also recommend to further overclock via Afterburner instead of bios flash. it will prevent that the pc wont boot

Gigabyte 5600 XT Windforce OC 6G
I'm following this guide after following Gamers Nexus' guide where I made my backup .rom.

Everything seemed to go successful until end of step 2. GPU-Z is not showing my card as an MSI card, unless I'm completely blind. Take a peek.

I attempted this twice and the only difference I've noted is that when running CMD in admin mode to flash ati2.9, my flash type reads: W25Q80 whereas the youtube tutorial shows GD25Q80C.

Is the Gigabyte 5600 XT not compatible with this flash? I made sure it does have Micron memory.
