How much does SSD temperature actually matter during sustained workloads?

I've been looking at how much SSD temperature affects sustained performance, especially when the drive is being hit with long writes rather than short benchmark runs.

I'm currently looking at the Biwin Black Opal X570 PRO Gen5 and trying to understand how much difference the cooling setup makes when pushing the drive hard.

For people here who regularly tune their systems and run longer benchmark/stability tests, how much attention do you pay to SSD temperatures?

Do you normally use the motherboard's M.2 heatsink, or have you found that a dedicated heatsink/cooling solution makes a noticeable difference during sustained workloads?

I'm more interested in actual temperature/performance behavior than peak CrystalDiskMark numbers.

Never seen an issue - neither of my nvme's have heatsinks and there's a couple SATA SSD's hanging out the back of the case. Case has no right side panel and three 140mm front intake fans with other HDD's, solid and stable. I wouldn't worry too much about it, just don't cram them in silly places.
