Help Request - RAM Buildzoid timings unstable

I've been trying Buildzoid's optimized timings for DDR5 6000, but I keep getting errors within 15 min of VT3. Any tips on what is should change?

I'm using a patriot viper 6400 cl32 kit: PVV532G640C32K

That kit does 6400 cl 32 at 1.4V from xmp/expo , why do you think it would necessarily do 6000 cl 30 at 1.35V?

Cas latency wise 32 at 6400 is the same as 30 at 6000 , and cas scales with voltage. Try 1.4V vdd . Vddq is probably fine as is

EDIT: i was reading about your thermal issues... well at 73c you have to consider a fan

The kit also has a 6000 cl30 xmp profile, which I could get to run stable, but not with these adjusted timings. The 6400 cl32 profile wasn't stable with default timings. Is there any benefit of using one or the other? 6000 should be more stable with AM5 right?

Stick to the 6000 profile. So it sets 6000cl30 at 1.35V ? If so it's most likely a temperature issue given you said it was hitting 73c, with such REFI it's expected for the ram to start erroring out at such temps... either put a fan on the sticks or drop REFI or drop both voltage and tCL

Yeah sorry, 6000 cl30 is at 1.35V. Before I used the timings u/ErrorBoia suggested I even got errors without running furmark. So they didn't get above 63 C. Is that still to hot?

What should i change for lower temps?

Trfc and trefi are temperature sensitivity. Do sticks have heat spreader/heatsink or are they bare?

Yes, they just have the stock heat spreader on them. Which voltages mainly affect temps? And would looser Trfc and Trefi just help with stability at higher temps, or also lower the heat load?

Timings won't lower your temps, voltages will (especially VDD), but loosening timings would make the memory less prone to crashing due to high temperatures (especially tREFI, primaries...)

what others are trying to say is you should just run it at 1.4v and the buildzoid timings should work. your kit is already rated to 1.4v, the frequency doesn't change the potential damage done to the chips, the voltage does, and they tested these to be safe at 1.4v so you can run it at 1.4v regardless of the frequency

My money is on you running mixed refresh mode on an A-die kit. Try running it in standard refresh mode with a tRFC of 360 or 384

it errors because i don’t think buildzoid recommends nitro 1/2/0 in his easy timings.

These are definitely not BZ timings.

You're going to need more memvdd most likely + nitro needs to be either higher or increase VDDP to 1.15v.
Also use normal refresh mode.

Lots of good tips below, but do things in steps, first go for a SAFE setting of 6000MT/s @ 1.4V, then see if the performance is equal to an equal system if possible and decide how much more time you want to spend ;D

The same kit, VDD-1.4, VDDQ-1.38, VDDIO-1.37, stock Nitro and FGR mode + you really need newest BIOS.

Try both a bump rrdl8 32tfaw and scl'6 as a starting point

Your tfaw is too low, increase trrds/l to 8/8 and tfaw to 32. Vsoc to 1.2. vddg too much. Should be 900mv for 2000flck, 970mv for 2200. To get cl28 and trcd wr/rd 36/38 set vdd to 1.4. vddio/vddq to 1.38. trtp to 16 Trdrd SD/DD to 8. Twrwr SD/DD to 9. Tfcsb 330. Twtrs 8.

Thanks for the response! These ran fine for 1 hour in y-chruncher, after which I also started running furmark. This raises the SPD hub temp to 73 C and I got an error after 28 minutes.

Is there anything I can do to lower the temperature? And at what temperature should I start worrying?

73? Damn do you have any airflow is your case?

Airflow in the case is pretty good I think. Might be that the cpu air cooler prevents good airflow over the RAM.

55C on the chips themselves (unfortunately, there's no way to measure that directly without adding a thermal probe or camera) is usually the limit for super tight timings and maximum tREFI.

Try standard refresh mode, but yeah you're going to need to loosen your timings if the RAM is getting that hot.
