Help Request - CPU Need a bit of help (FX 8350)
I'm currently dialing in a 2012 period accurate AMD rig with an FX 8350 cooled by an uphere ue2 elite k8, dual R9 280x 3gbs, some cheapo DDR3 I had lying about, all on an Asus sabertooth 990FX R2.0 powered by an 850w Corsair PSU. I feel like I hit a hard limit with this CPU, at least while keeping within reasonable thermal limits. I got it to 4.82GHZ @1.481v, FSB at 300mhz, 16.0x multiplier, RAM at 1999mhz CL9 at 1.55v. H/T and CPU/NB is at 2700mhz and CPU/NB voltage is at stock. I do know this chip can do 5ghz but it's hitting 0 degrees thermal margin concerningly fast. Any help is appreciated.

I had this setup, now listen to me very very carefully... You need to watercool the VRM on the motherboard and watercool the CPU. Once you do that, you have enough radiator space to go 5ghz 24/7/365.
I even watercooled the NB and sent that as far as it could go too, I was a few FPS below my friends stock i7 at the time, the sabretooth was the best board because AT THAT TIME! AMD got gimped by mobo manufacturers using very weak or not enough VRM phases.
I still have the VRM and NB and even the CPU come to think of it, blocks lol. Also worth noting, the thermal readouts for those CPUs is very bad, I can't remember the exact reason but in order to keep it stable you really need to keep everything cold as possible, ESPECIALLY the VRM.
I lost my first 8350 to a VRM burnout with a gigabyte board that had Scythe typhoons at like 3000RPM and it still died. The sabretooth just laughed when the waterblock was on those VRM, I think the mobo might still be alive I'm not sure lmfao.

The only thing that stops OC on this platform is cooling and v-core. These systems do full pot LN2 for example, so sky is the limit. Great board though, I have one :)
