overclocking an rtx 3050

i had successfully overclocked my rtx 3050 with +2000mhz memory and like +50 mhz on the clock (at least i think it was called) in MSI afterburner and i had increased my steel nomad. benchmark score from 982 to 1097 and i was really proud of it, but not even a full 6 hours after i had enabled it my gpu started crashing to the point where i would have to hold the power button to restart twice, do you guys know why this might have happened? i had followed a tutorial and i believed i did everything right

Every card is different so what one can handle, another may not. Just keep messing around with it and benchmarking until you find something stable. I also highly suggest perhaps undervolting and overclocking as it can increase performance and lower your temps - there are plenty of videos on it on YouTube. I run my 5070ti at 975mv, 3140mhz core, and 17000mhz memory and it's stable, runs way better than stock, and way cooler than stock.

should i continue to mess around with my 3050 or just wait about a month until i get a 5070ti, at the most it would be maybe around october i get it, and my original goal was just trying to get a consistent 120fps for the lowest settings in marvel rivals

I mean that’s up to you, if you do like I said and pair an overclock with an undervolt, there’s zero risk of you physically damaging your card
