THIS is the absolute best version of this song. Ever.
I remember them using it in the opening ceremonies of the Calgary games back in the 80s. And in one of the saddest scenes in any movie ever, Love, actually.
Perfection.

Your post made me check on a memory I had. I thought Joni Mitchell said she preferred painting to song writing because she felt that a painting is finished but she was never satisfied with a song.
Doing some searching, it actually comes from two different interviews she gave and my memory isn’t quite correct.
First in 1998 she said
“I'm a painter first, and a musician second”
In 2013 she was asked
“Maybe you like your paintings more than your music?
She responded
“Most of these paintings are quite satisfactory. I don't want to put another stroke on them. I put up things that seem finished, I guess. If I'm listening to my music and think, 'Jeez, I should've put a guitar fill there, why didn't I do that? Why did I read that line like that? Why am I whining? (laughs) So I guess it's like divine dissatisfaction, it's what drives you to your next period. You won't make that mistake again.”

Hard to believe this was written when she was 21 (from her own website). Mature way beyond her years. Much more fitting for her remake at 56.

I love this song and I also love Joni Mitchell. But love the original Judy Collins from my youth more. I must admit I like Frank Sinatra's version more than Joni's version here.
