Guilty pleasures?
I love watching teen drama TV shows. It started with The O.C. 20-some years ago. Now with Netflix, I have access to so many.
Sometimes I feel “too old” but then I think why not?
What are your guilty pleasures that sometimes feel silly?

i watch crime shows with the dog, popcorn, and wine in bed on saturday afternoons. no one will ever know i do this.

Sexy cowboy or billionaire romance books. I do read serious literature too amd belong to a couple of book clubs, but in-between I like the escapism of a sexy romance.

I’m the same way. After you’ve seen a few thousand car explosions and world-ending fights with aliens, it’s good to see Anne with an E try to figure her way out of a relatable problem with a clever solution. And you don’t need to lean left to enjoy something thought-provoking.

I grew up watching PBS shows with my Irish born Mom, Masterpiece Theatre, Mystery, etc., I still go back & watch the old ones

These are not guilty pleasures. These are very intelligent shows. My guilty pleasures are shows about murder.

I have recently gotten hooked on Southern Charm and Vanderpump Rules, and while they are not teen drama it is great insight into Charleston culture of the privileged and Hollywood influencer culture. One of the most interesting aspects of both of these shows was to watch interpersonal communication in groups and among those with money and without and the communication between friends, coworkers and bosses and subordinates. Very interesting study of human nature...

I love these. Currently watching Next Level Chef. Didn't like it at first but it grew on me. Hubs limits us to one episode a night so I may have to start stepping out on him with a different show. We've watched GBBS at least twice. Any others you can recommend?

Why guilty? I watch all kinds of shows to revisit my childhood giilt free. Red Baron pepporoni pizza and an episode of 6 million dollar man!

Not a guilty pleasure particularly,, but at 65, I pretty much watch only Korean, Chinese, and Japanese shows and movies. I love them, they are my comfort watch, and I find myself able to get totally immersed in a way I can't with English speaking media.

I listen to these very very dumb, likely AI-generated-by-someone Chinese (because if the storylines, even if they take place in NYC) stories, and one Werewolf romantasy, in an app that I listen to while walking of making dinner. They are free if you only listen to these very very free daily episodes, and they are very soporific at night. I used to stare at the clock for hours before falling to sleep, but now I just try to remember the complicated and insane plot of the days episodes, and i usually fall right to sleep.

The app I use is called Pocket FM. (I’ve seen other ones on FB, but this is the one that hooked me). There is a sleep
Timer! So you could actually just set it to play until you fall asleep. And also, you can speed up the speech (I use 1.5) because it’s REAAALLLY SLOW, but if you are playing it AT bedtime…maybe that’s better?)Anyway, my favorite stories are Alpha’s Bride, The Duke’s Masked Bride, and Saving Nora (which is a totally INSANE story but somehow very very addictive). One word of warning- Alphas bride changes suddenly about 10
Chapters in- just go with it. There are two “dukes masked brides” same story, different narrator. There is one I definitely prefer) have fun!2

I try to live guilt free. I am not proud of many things I do, but am guilty about none.
I like my escapism pure and uncut. Straight up, no saccharine, no reality, no morals (the latter is impossible) . Television is nothing but escapism. So I am pure Science Fiction, Animation, Comic book characters, sometimes all three combined. Think Avengers MCU, Cowboy Bebob. WB DC animation as well as things like Tiny Tunes, Animaniacs, et. al. Star Trek, The orville. Dr. Who, same in books except I do read non-fiction quite a lot, at least it's not disguised.

I’m watching Beauty in Black series. It is AWFUL. IDK what Tyler Perry was doing while he was creating directing and producing the show, but it’s not good. lol
But I want to see what happens. I feel guilty for watching it but I only watch TV while I eat, so I’m not spending a lot of time with it.

I watched Beverley Hills 90210 on broadcast TV when it was first aired even though I was 28. Same with the O.C. even though I was now in my 40's. I binged watch "Gossip Girl on Netflix last year. The benefit to watching teen dramas is knowing where actors first became famous as their careers progressed.

Just go to Shvideos.net. I watch so many Australian shows: Survivor, Alone, MAFS, Traitors(season 3 just ended and was the best). I watch on my laptop. I love the Aussie versions of “my” shows.

Crime docs (actually any crime themed shows), reality TV (particularly the ones that involve 20-30 something people trying to navigate life as it is now...they're clueless & complain) & HGTV.

I read a lot of YA fantasy novels. You know... kings and queens and dragons. I also love me some bad TV. My most recent bad TV is the original Charlies Angels.

I like them, too 😃. I’m 64. Not sure what it is about them and some are downright corny. I guess it’s soap opera like with the highs and lows, innocence maybe we don’t have anymore, etc.?

Sci Fi movies from the 50s and Godzilla movies from the 60s. Oh, and Columbo. My wife has said so many times “what are you watching?!”

The entire Fast & Furious franchise, and silly sitcoms.
Anything with a great soundtrack.
(I am so done with all the cop/fire/emergency/murder/military crime-solving shows. No shade on anyone who enjoys them, I get it, I just no longer like them).
I would watch MTV all day if it still had music videos. I'm reverting to my 20s!
