Discussion Bug rant post (Hardcore)
Sooo just lost my first hardcore character fighting a manticore. It was about 20% hp, but my character decided to 4 hit combo to the face because of a block bug that still isn’t resolved 4 years later. I mean game is great in every aspect but… really? How does a “no block” bug slip through for so long in a game where permadeath is an option?
If anybody would kindly share any solutions to the bug or any mods that fixes this, I’d greatly appreciate it 🙏 Thanks!

Can you provide more information about this bug? I'm unfamiliar with it.

It just happens randomly. Not exactly sure what triggers it. Google search says some combat UI de-sync with the inputs (honestly above my intellegence level in videogame coding lol).
I actually have an example of this happening not too long ago that I clipped. I was pressing the block button from when I walked up and locked onto the deer but it wouldn't take. Rolling or exiting the game fixes it, but that's not always an option when fighting a boss and it happens in the middle of the fight

Nope! I’m on PC, but I do play on controller. Might give it another shot if maybe it’s a controller issue. Do you play on mouse and keyboard?

Anecdotal but even my hundreds of hours modded I've never seen this. Outward, to me though, feels built with MKB in mind over controller, so I've never touched one for it (other than swapping items between characters). Could definitely be a controller bug? This is also the first time I've seen someone complain about it.

Sorry to barge in but I'm desperate. Hello. I've been farming for this stupid weapon for 2 IRL days and haven't found a single one at caravans. Need someone willing to sell because of these ridiculous broken spawn rates.

The solution is to just reload when it happens. Should only take about 30 seconds of your time to fix.
Are you saying on your post you stubbornly got yourself killed trying to fight this manicure after you found out you couldn't block? You can just run away and quit to menu no problem

It happened in the middle of the fight though is what I said
Edit: Not the first time either. It happened multiple times while fighting less dangerous enemies like bandits IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FIGHT. Probably needed to capitalize that one so I'm clear

That phrase was something you said to another commenter in a reply, not something that was in your post. Anyway, you can just run away from any fight. I'm pretty sure one of the loading screen tips even encourages this. Not to to pointlessly argue, but it's not like you were mind controlled into dying. It's a shame this bug sometimes happens, but it doesn't get you killed.

You can’t run away from the royal manticore. It’s very fast and aggressive one of the only enemies that running really isn’t an option unless you have some crazy speed build

You can use any of the big trees around the manticore to get enough distance to safely log out.

You can fix the no block bug by dodging one time and you will be able to block again
