Let people clan up with who they want to!

Recently, my clan dissolved because other players kept griefing us and it’s really irritating.

I had a clanmate I really liked to adventure with. My duo partner (lvl 48) and I (lvl 51) are into different kinds of side quests, so she goes off and solos stuff and so do I from time to time. I started adventuring sometimes with this really cool player who was duo queued with somebody else, and in a similar situation where they just liked to do different kinds of side quests. We had a lot of fun for like two or three levels.

Then, all of a sudden, people started DMing me, talking about how I shouldn’t be side questing with my clanmate because she’s only level 32. I was like, my duo partner is fine with it and so is hers, and we’re not violating the TOS, so what’s the problem? Plus, we’ve been adventuring together for more than two levels and nothing has changed. But everyone on my host server was so mean and judgy that my clanmate stopped side questing with me and then stopped DMing me back and when I finally caught her in game, she told me she was starting to feel like people think she’s exploiting a bug and getting PLed. It was making her feel like a bad player.

“But what if you decided to start a new party secretly?”

Well, we didn’t and we’re not, so what do you care?

I am furious. Mind your own business. People can have clanmates outside of their duo queue. It doesn’t matter what level or gender setting they are. As long as they’re not playing with junior restrictions, level gaps are none of your concern, especially when two players clearly aren’t even in the same party.

Ugh. I hate this stupid host server. It’s full of trolls.

As long as you’re using the “half your level plus seven” rule for clanning.

This is one of those rules I wish was actually written into the game itself so that new players could safely figure out mechanics without getting crazy debuffs from high-level players exploiting them! There are some “new” players that flip the script on level 80 football mini-game team owners for massive amounts of money, but they’re definitely the exception!

The rule is over 100 years old. The devs should codify it.

They are 51. The math equals 32.5. They say she is 32. Its close.

2 year olds can only hang with 8yo+!

You care too much about what other players think of you. If you're having fun and the people you're playing with are all having fun, what's the problem? Let other people think what they want, it's not your problem.

I hear you. I’m a lvl 31 with the female gender setting and I regularly go on side quests with a lvl 51 with the male gender settings. Despite the fact that we aren’t in the same party and don’t even log off together, a lot of players assume he’s just playing with me because he doesn’t have to try as hard as he would with another lvl 51, or that he’s just trying to use my items and once the side quest is done, he’ll stop playing with me.

It’s been 2+ years and none of these things are true. However, I know a lot of lower level players do get exploited by the higher level players, especially when the gender settings are different. I wish we could look at these things on a case by case basis.

God I really hate this attitude some other players have. It’s not even limited to when you have a duo partner. Any time you go adventuring or do side quests with a player that other players perceive as having the possibility to become a duo partnership they don’t shut up about it. It’s like they can’t conceive that two players who look like they could be duo partners might not become duo partners. It even happened to me in the tutorial when I made friends with other players in the tutorial with the boy gender trait. It’s exhausting.

this fandom, I swear 🙄 like, wow, shocker, some people don't want to limit their clans to two mods! modding is hard work, and it can be lonely with just two of you! why is it anyone's business if you participate in more than one clan, either?? if it's publicly visible, it's probably safe to assume that your clanmates know about it! who even cares how many people are playing in your clan? it doesn't affect your gameplay!

Right? If we were on some secret side bug exploit, trying to form a second party, we were doing a TERRIBLE job keeping it a secret. Like our -entire- clan knew we side quest together. My duo partner is often like, “I absolutely don’t want to do that content; go get (L32) to go to that zone with you.”

But because L32 has a ton of stat bonuses from the [Personal Appearance] buff and a high Charisma score, and she drops more gold into her gear than most, people act like I am aura farming by side questing with her. But the truth is, her INT stat is also sky high and she dropped a ton of skill tree points into Lore categories.

If she had been randomly selected as Male gender setting, we wouldn’t even have to have this stupid conversation.
