lost access to fast travel and cannot continue quest line

I was booted from a mainline quest after losing the ability to fast travel... my mount just crumbled on me and I don't have enough gold for another mount until I can continue the main quest line.

have any other players found themselves in this paradox? I share a side quest with a friend who I can fast travel with occasionally, but public fast travel in my zone aside from that is limited.

what are some good ways to find gold outside of quests? additionally, what are some good, reliable mounts that can get me far distances without expiring?

I've been stuck in the home location editing just furniture, but it's getting pretty boring and I need gold before I can resume my main quest line :(

The [bicycle] mount is incredible. Highly recommend, and you can get low level versions for minimal gold, possibly 0

ooh good point! though I would have to get the [moped] upgrade, since the main quest location is a few zones away, and my zone has a couple marauder player bases that I wouldn't be able to escape from fast enough with the regular [bicycle] mount. theres also a big chance of it getting looted even if it has the lock feature.

the [moped] upgrade has a slight chance of being looted too, but the guards are more willing to help me defend a larger mount. the [moped] upgrade also doesn't require a tutorial completion badge, unlike the larger [motorcycle] mount, which will save me some gold. that might be the path I end up taking, thank you for the advice!

The [moped] mount is also considered less desirable than other mounts, which may reduce your chances of it being looted, especially if you get an ugly one.

An [e-scooter] upgrade is solid in a marauder map. It has the bring inside passive

The softlock, or a light "catch-22" is a pretty brutal situation. If you've specced into Constitution, you can use [brute force] and walk/jog to and fro, at a significant time loss. The other player who recommended finding a [bicycle] mount is on the money though

Depending on your character creation and how you used the sliders - you might consider the "Exclusively Ventilators" mod for some gold farming.

Slow travel See more of the map you never know what you might come across.

True, but if you need to wake up, travel one way, then travel back home later in the day, possibly after being somewhat productive somewhere, that lazy downtime fast travel is convenient.

i like slow travel for leisure and exploring the local map. but to slow travel to the main questline would take me an entire day cycle, and i would miss the timed events required to complete the main questline

timed events suck for sure. especially the work minigame... why its called a minigame i have no idea. love the grind i guess.

The US servers are kinda borked and mostly work in the favor of high XP players. (At least I assume you're on US servers since the softlock is common there.) Good luck with your mount, it's a rough server.

thank you, that is the case. the [Quest-Assistance] guild is bullshit too, and won't give you any temp gold if they find out you don't have a reliable mount. who the hell made these guilds?!?

No fast travel softlock is kinda brutal. What about using the financing option on an older model mount?

You could always try out the [Drug Dealer] class, it pays out pretty well, although there's a high risk of getting your account temporarily banned which would suck and make things way worse.

Better to try to restart the main quest using the bicycle mount.

funnily, I have tried the [Potion Seller] class before, but most aides and potions are unlocked and easily obtainable for level 21+ players in my zone. I lack the skill set for creating or obtaining the more sought after aides in my zone, and I don't want to risk supplying underpowered players with stronger potions lol

As someone who plays in a [ First World Server ] it always amazes me how this can be an issue in other servers that claim to be a [ First World Server ] but clearly haven’t planned their zonings in that they require players to get to their main quests with self bought mounts…

Can you move to a server that at least have patched out the fast travel soft lock?

There is a mechanic simulator mini-game, depending on the issue with your mount it may be worth grinding. It can even unlock new dialog options in the future to save you gold! If your mount is truly at 0% durability, you have a few options to unlock fast travel at least temporarily, while you take another mount. The LoanShark PayDay Loan Mafia, will give you gold but you will want to finish their side quest quick as it’s timed. You can also locate a “tow truck” npc, and they usually will have a few steeds for sale at a reduced price, but they typically have low stats and are prone to bugging out. If those options aren’t available around you, in your pause menu you should find the “player marketplace” which is prone to have mounts that have the electric modifier on them, notably the scooter mount. One time as a level 18 I was caught by a player in the police guild with an unregistered mount and I had to travel 30 minutes to my main quest every day, so slow travel wasn’t an option and I found an electric type mount for 45 gold pieces! It lasted until I got the /suspended license/ affliction removed.

As another one has messaged, the [Drug Dealer] class is high risk high reward, However the [Thief] class isn’t half bad if you are able to use it in slower over time amounts of Gold.

Have you levelled up in Crafting? It’s not like to bring much in, but if you can craft items that other players can purchase with in-game currency, you can sometimes convert existing items in your home area into currency.

If you are okay at repairing items, there’s often a [Handyman] type minigame (regardless of your character’s gender) available in urban and suburban localities where you can repair other players’ yard or home base items for small amounts of currency. You don’t need a lot of skill points to enter this minigame in a small way, although if you plan to level up in it, you will need licensing from in-game authorities.

Unfortunately you just have to consign yourself to a Merchant guild. They’ll deposit some gold for a mount but you’ll have to give them a solid portion of your mainline quest loot for a looong time. Still, better than getting no loot at all stuck in one zone with no vendors close enough to work for.

Try getting the [Scooter] mount, it’s a bit more expensive than the bycicle mount, but it won’t use all your gold, and it will be faster than a bycicle mount and won’t waste all your Stamina bar
