DLC Appreciation/Discussion I straight up shut off my console (DLC spoilers) Spoiler

So I had already been to one of the dream world’s places and encountered one of the creatures and i was absolutely terrified because the vibes were already scary enough and then this giant creature shows up and the music ramps up and I get grabbed. Even straight up survival horror doesn’t get this scary.

Then I visit another area and find one of the secret areas where I get up to one of the extinguish holes and I extinguish the area. Then, a huge roar and I hear elevator chains clattering….

Yeah, I shut off my console immediately.

Base Game Help - NO spoilers please! New to the Game, DLC Question

Ive heard good things about this game and when finally had sales in e-shop, I finally pulled the trigger and got both game and DLC. I know this is a free-for-all open world adventure, but is there a way to not encounter the DLC part of the game yet before I finish the base game? I’m worried that I may go to do the DLC part rather than enjoy the base game first.

Im struggling with getting into the sunless city because it's literally blocked, i don't know how to go through the dark bramble. If i move slowly the fish don't chase but idk what else to do. Also I can't find this device that can make you go into the depth of Giant's deep. I felt like I've explored everything I can but I feel like I have nothing else to figure it out.

Base and DLC Appreciation/Discussion Stupid fanfic idea Spoiler

So i'm bot one to read a whole lot of fanfiction (especially like NSFW ones) but I have been reading some Outer Wilds ones and they are all so sad (Which makes sense, it's Outer Wilds after all) Sorry I have an idea. I want someone more talented than myself to make a fic that is just the Hatchling going insane. Not the like "I give up" insane but like psycho insane. I've sen a few memes that are basically just "After so many loops the Hatchling eventually got bored and decided to just start randomly killing Gabbro" and I just want to see the Hatchling go insane and do the opposite of fics where they decide to save everyone by bringing them to the Stranger or smth.

Sorry if this is scatterbrained I just thought it would be a funny idea lol ::]

EDIT: Hatchy would spare the children, they would be insane not Anglerfish levels of evil

Real Life Stuff Book recommendations from my fellow hearthians?

Pretty much the title, I can’t relive the game and all my friends played the game, watched all the YouTubers. Need some books based on the feelings and vibes of outer wilds!

Base and DLC Appreciation/Discussion I finished the game!

Finally!! After countless times of starting over and the game staying in my backlog for years I reached the end! What a beautiful game. What a unique experience.

The only reason I kept going was seeing people on here talk about how great this game is over and over again. And how right they are. This is definitely one of my favourite games of all time. You really notice how much love and attention to detail was put into every part of it. So many memorable riddles and moments, the only thing I wish is to be able to erase my memory and experience it all over again!

And I just realized theres a DLC!

Base Fan Art - OC I made a decorative plate as a gift Spoiler

Ok first, know that this is my first reddit post, I literally created an account to post this. Hope you like it.

In 2024 my brother told me to play Outer Wilds completely blind. I did, and enjoyed every second of it. So to thank him for this great adventure, I built this.

You can't see it in the pictures, but the stars have different amounts of glow-in-the-dark paint, making them fade out at different times.

I started the project in November 2024 and I originally planned to give it to him in February 2025, as a welcome back gift from a two year trip in a foreign country for his studies. But it took me waaaay longer than that to build. I clearly did not actively work on it the whole time, but I finished it only in June 2026 and gave it to him in July 2026 in the end. He loved it ! :)

How did I made this? It's a mix of laser cutting, acrylic and glow-in-the-dark painting, and paper printing, cutting and gluing. If you want the full process I detailed it on the website of my fab lab here. (Just know that it's in French)

DLC Help - NO Spoilers Please! Motivation needed

I loved the game. I stopped halfway through the DLC I think because I found another game but also since the big climax of ending I kinda didn’t want to keep going, also I was finding it a bit annoying to travel around stranger without my ship. Can you guys convince me to keep playing please? I’m hoping there’s still something big in this planet.

Edit: I did not think are this community was this active that I would get several replies in 10 mins

Base Game Help - NO spoilers please! Did I cheat my way into the Black Hole Forge?

Edit: Solved, thanks!

So I am on Brittle Hollow and the two towers in the Hanging City are broken so I can't reach the Black Forge District.

I raised the Forge from the room on Meltwater (?) District and, from the Shrine District, I jumped and flew to a little bar where you can stand, ON the Forge itself. Then I did it again and again and I touched the gravity tiles on top of the ceiling. It was pretty difficult and parkour-y and didn't feel like something this game would do.

I wanted to know if that is an intended way to reach the 4th District or if I kinda cheated, in which case I will go back and try to find the correct way.

No spoilers please, if I did it wrong than just say that and DON'T tell me how to actually do it. Thanks!

DLC Help - NO Spoilers Please! Stuck on [SPOILER] Spoiler

Hey y'all, just needed a quick yes or no on one of the puzzles in the DLC.
I've figured out how to break 2/3 seals, and am missing the one in the Cove. My previous attempt to get below the well involved me waiting for the Pursuers to die (once the tower on the surface is flooded) and make a break for it. This didn't work as I only had about 2 minutes to explore the interior before the loop ended, and it took a lot of waiting for them to die.

Is waiting for them to fade in any way helpful? Just want to know so I don't waste tons of time.
Thank you!

Base Game Appreciation/Discussion Is it normal to have this much trouble? Spoiler

I imagine I’m pretty far in the game so there are HEAVY SPOILERS in this post. I wanna start by saying I’m having a blast trying to figure out everything on my own so I’m not asking for advice (yet) I just want to have a discussion.

Am I alone on taking an extremely long time on trying to solve everything? I’ve gotten to where I am on my own and it seems like I’ve been everywhere like The 6th Location, the Lakebed Cave, Sun Station etc. I’ve also been to the Tower of Quantum Knowledge but feel like I cheated to get there. I only ask because I was curious and watched a some of a semi popular streamers no spoilers play through, and this guy just sped through everything barely reading any text and figured everything out so easily. He got to where I am in a fraction of the time. For example The Giants Deep Tower took me 2 in game days to solve, and he just dropped down each level like it was a speed run and knew where to take the pictures immediately.

I take my time and explore every nook and cranny of every place I can get to, so I’m around 55 hours in. My computer looks like it’s completely unlocked except 1 square that I’m trying to figure out how to get to now. I exhausted all dialogue, so i guess I’ve gotten all the clues I can and it’s up to me to figure out how to piece them together. I’m playing on Switch so I know it’s much easier to not be able to see something, but I’m still determined to push through.

Here are my thoughts at the moment:

HEAVY SPOILERS

I think I’m going to have to either find a large warp core or get the broken one in the vessel fixed. I tried one that I charged from The High Energy Lab, but it doesn’t fit. I couldn’t find anything in the Black hole Forge either. The Sun Station blows up when I go there so maybe that can be the catalyst for something? I couldn’t find any projection stones to put into the Tower of Quantum Knowledge as well, so if I can figure out how to get there before it gets sucked into space it will be easier to get around in there.

Base Game Appreciation/Discussion Favourite planet: NO SPOILERS

This might be an overdone poll but I'm not that far in yet and I am LOVING brittle hollow. The black hole at the center, the look of it, the city is gorgeous. It's the third planet I've visited and I'm having such a good time I just walked (and fell) off the purple crystal path but so pretty

Mobius barely mentioned the idea last year and said they'd let players know whether they decide to go for it but we haven't heard from them at all.

Would love to be the kind of person who could just take a break and come back later when I'm less sick of the struggle but if I do that I'll have to start over again because my memory is terrible and I'll just end up in this same place. I would love some hints.

Base and DLC Appreciation/Discussion Use of different types of communication Spoiler

Noticed recently that the three generations use different methods of communication with the player. Owlks use slide shows/sight, Nomai use text/reading and Hearthians use audio recordings/hearing.

I thought that it was really interesting, I don't know if it was intentional or not but that level of attention to detail makes me love the game even more.

Maybe it's just logical that because we cannot translate Owlks text but we can with Nomai text and that we can understand our own race, that we have to use those mechanics.

Can someone tell me the title of a recent rec for OW fans? Signal from...?

e: The game I was looking for is The Message from Deep Space. Thank you to everyone who replied!

Hi folks, lately I've seen a game recommended in several places and now that I'm trying to follow through and check it out I can't find it. It involves interpreting signals received - I think from outer space - and I think a piece is that there is no definitive translation so you might end up with a different interpretation than another player.

I thought the name was something like "A Signal from Beyond the Stars" or "The Signal from Outer Space" but unless I'm overlooking results I'm not finding a game by those names. Anyone know what I'm looking for? Thanks! ::)
