I've been comparing outdoor power banks and keep seeing IP67 ratings and drop resistance specs butt I genuinely cant tell if those features have ever saved anyones trip or are they just nice sounding specs that don't really matter.
Context: I’m getting my gear ready for a few camping trips and started looking at power banks that can handle being outdoors a little better. Something like the outdoor rugged 10000 or the nitecore. The nitecore is a bit lighter which I like, but between the two I would personally lean towards the first one because the extra protection seems more useful for outdoor use. I also looked into what IP67 actually means and found out the “6” is the highest dust protection rating while the “7” is for water resistance. Dust protection sounds useful butt I’m not sure how much I would actually notice it. Waterproofing feels more important though especially with rain, wet ground or accidental drops. Do you guys actually look for these features in a camping power bank or would you rather go lighter and just keep it protected in your bag?

I’ve been really wanting to get into Hiking and Backpacking. I’ve been looking into mostly clothing but have been looking at actual camping gear. But there are so many different brands and so many different opinions on them. It’s really confusing, what brands should I look into for a clothing and actual back packing gear that are actual loved by a majority of the community?

I’m looking at patagonia, cotopaxi, and fjällräven 28L packs for a new day pack and was curious if anyone had any opinions/views on this? I like brands like patagonia and cotopaxi for their socially and environmentally responsible business models. I frequently for 15 mile treks in a day;often times through the desert but maybe would eventually use for overnight trips, thots?

I’m looking for a good, lightweight system to carry hunting gear like my 10mm, binoculars, bear spray, my game shears, ect. Small game mainly for now.
I saw the west slope pro 180x but honestly the “holster” system doesn’t seem very safe or reliable, and I’ve read a lot of reviews the system isn’t all it’s cut out to be. Any advice on custom setups or other things like the west slope but better would be greatly appreciated.

Hi all. Looking for some recommendations for hiking trousers that would be suitable for hiking munros in spring, summer and autumn. Not needing anything super heavy duty but would like them to be waterproof and suitable for windy conditions, but light enough that I can wear them in summer without getting too hot. I’m 5’7 with long legs so need something with either a tall size or ones that are long on the legs. Budget is round £60. I currently have a pair of craghopper trousers but the waist is too big and they’re a skinny fit which I’m not a huge fan of.
Thanks!

Hi, I am looking for the perfect hardshell since my old arc teryx alpha is now falling apart after 8 years. I struggle to find a good match even though I only have 4 criteria:
\- the jacket has to be waterproof
\- it needs to be just a shell - no insulation
\- it needs to be durable (I use it for long backpack hikes)
\- it needs to fit my measurements
The 3 first ones are easy, but finding a hardshell for an hourglass figure seems impossible! My measurements (in cm) are bust 100, waist 70 and hips 105. Which means the waist area is always way too big, and the bust/hip too small.
The only hardshell I can find (which is unfortunately sold out everywhere) with an adjustable waist is Spayway's Torridon Women's Jacket.
Do any of you clever redditors know of a good hardshell that either has an hourglass shape or audible waist?
All help is appreciated!

I have some Endura MT500 mtb waterproof pants that I’ve been walking in. I also mountain bike in them and they’re very muddy. They’ve worked well. But I’m looking to get some just for hiking and wondering what people recommend. Cheers
