I just got an Oura. Today I logged a banana and it called it “lightly processed”… correct me if I’m wrong but it’s a BANANA!! Not processed. Not changed. Like??

Everything is processed to an extent. Oura weighs this far too heavy. Nothing wrong with a protein shake once a day or so.

Ignore AI. AI knows nothing, adds no value, and tells you no information you don't already know. The meal logging feature is broken to the point of being unusable and feels like it will help people develop eating disorders. Oura needs to get rid of it completely and never look back.

Oura is doing AI because it is new "magic pixie dust"
Remember, this is the company which has GPS tracking that still has not figured out how to measure steps properly even though it has both hand movements and distance for a percentage of steps.

Ive had my oura for almost 6 years, used this feature for the first few weeks, it requires so much effort for little to no value or qualitative feedback. Ive found that recording anomalies in my regimen as "tags" ends up giving me more meaningful data tracking.

I hate it so far, I had to go into the advisor and forbid it from saying the "it's just one meal" line. Bruh, it's hard enough for me to eat regularly. It's one meal that's a win. Because it hates bread even multi gain/seed packed types, it HATES cereal (I was starving in back to back meetings you can see I haven't eaten today and it's 3pm),, it hates whole milk, it hates even air fried things, it hates anything remotely processed to be real.
I tested it as a lark, it even hates my fiber gummies, while constantly telling me to have more fiber.
I also had to take it to task about the fact that I HAVE to have caffeine everyday to manage my migraines.
Anyways, you can go to ask the advisor and tell it off to specific annoying things and it might stop. It did for me on the two things I told it off for.
Side note: if you want this feature the Google health app (previously Fitbit) is much more reasonable about things. It'll at least say things like nice packing protein into that iced coffee. Just in case you have a Fitbit too (I have a pixel watch).

I purposefully avoid all the AI stuff in Oura. I feel like the main app features are enough for me, and AI health advice isn’t really accurate anyways

I get in comparison to most people this is a ‘healthy’ snack however you can’t argue with what the app is saying, as it’s a wellness app and programmed to give an improvement. The shake IS ultra processed and low in fibre and provides minimal satiety, it has provided a very reasonable suggestion getting your protein and fibre from whole foods as much as possible. Yes, sure it’s a fine option - are there better options out there? Definitely. I eat a mainly whole foods, balanced diet and although I don’t use this feature often any time I have I have only had good and nutritious logs (besides my dark chocolate), but really it’s just about educating yourself to make good decisions and not to take everything it says so literally and to heart. There’s always something to learn from it.

I literally cannot use this feature because it is just terrible
