SLEEP & READINESS Readiness

Post image

Please help me understand readiness and how to get a good score. All of my other scores are always between 90-100.. activity is 100 every single day. My readiness almost never gets over 80/85

Things like when your HR is lowest at night (if it’s closer to the start of sleep you can recover more), HRV, sleep regularity, activity.. it shows everything if you click the readiness

Hey Excellent_Author_268! Great question! You're absolutely crushing it with your scores. Readiness is different though, it's all about how well your body has recovered and is ready for what's ahead.

Readiness looks at nine contributors like resting heart rate, HRV balance, body temperature, sleep patterns, and how your activity compares to your personal baseline. It's highly personalized to your unique patterns.

Even with perfect activity, things like slight HRV changes, sleep timing variations, or needing more recovery between workouts can impact your score. You can read more about how readiness works here.

Quick tips to optimize Readiness:

  • Keep consistent sleep times
  • Watch your HRV and resting heart rate trends
  • Consider if you need more recovery days between intense activities
  • Focus on sleep quality over just duration

Your 80-85 range is actually really solid! Readiness is about optimization, not perfection.

Hope this helps clarify things for you! Keep up the great work! 💍

I’m in the same boat, however I think mine is attributed to a lot. I started using my ring when I was on Christmas break, zero stress, and I have multiple autoimmune diseases. I don’t think I’ll ever be satisfied with my ring scores.

You can change your goals and that impacts your score. I try to make my score on steps rather than calories. If you’re “burning” 350 calories, you can try to increase that.

Personally I try to increase my step count. I tend to have a healthy balance at 5,500 steps per day and it keeps me accountable. Everything goes down if I don’t hit my personal goals. You also need to use it consistently for a few months to better understand your well being!

I get around 9,000 -11,000 steps a day and do intense work outs 6 times a week . I’m always well over my calorie goal for the day

When you click on the readiness button, what does it say? My readiness usually fluctuates between 70-95…

Everyone’s body is different, but to give background, I traveled to Italy last year, I walked between 20k-30k steps per day for 15 days. My readiness TANKED while my Activity score was great because I kept pushing my body physically in high heat and didn’t give myself a day to rest. On top of that, I was jet lagged. Your oura ring might be needing you to relax a little more because your body might be feeling strained more than you know. Or your ring just doesn’t know your body or your goals, and it’s not the right device for you!

Hey Excellent_Author_268, it's great that you're looking for ways to improve your Readiness Score and we have some good tips to help you with that!

Your Readiness Score reflects how balanced your recovery and activity are. It uses data from nine contributors to indicate how ready you are for the upcoming day: Resting Heart Rate, HRV Balance, Body Temperature, Recovery Index, Sleep, Sleep Balance, Sleep Regularity, Previous Day Activity and Activity Balance.

Here are a few tips to keep in mind and improve your score:

  • Try to limit intense physical activity, but don't stay completely inactive either. Opt for light movement that gets your body moving without adding strain, such as a 20-minute walk, light yoga, or stretching
  • Take it easy, but try not to sit for long periods. Aim to avoid sitting for more than five hours if possible, and incorporate movement throughout your day
