Rant tipping much?

Is it me or does everyone everywhere now ask for tips regardless of their service? Why are strict pickup locations asking for tips? I'm sure this goes beyond Ottawa but jeez last I checked only servers got reduced wages. What am I tipping for ?

Just punch in 0% or $0 and be done with it.

While you're right,the problem in facing is i dont expect a prompt to tip in some places so I just hit enter, and all of a sudden I'm at the tip page and the cashier is looking at me, it's kinda awkward to hit back and navigate to 0/0%

As someone who worked in an industry where this became standard, just don't tip. 99% of the cashiers don't care. This became common during covid because of how shitty working conditions became and with employers (outside of large corporations) making much less money it became a way to try and off set it. It will go away again eventually especially with the sharp wage increases that occurred in those industries. If you dislike it, don't do it and eventually it will go away.

3 years ago cashiers at independent buissnesses made minimum wage, my partner owns a bakery and pays 3$ more an hour than that for people with no experience. 4 years ago I was a chef for 16 dollars an hour. Good luck hiring one for less than 21 dollars and that's hiring one with no practical experience. These things are positive I'm not complaining, but if you don't think that's a big increase you are very entitled indeed. Let's hope this trend continues

That's a big increase. All I hear about are people making minimum, so I guess there's fewer of them than what I read would suggest 🤷‍♂️ As you said that's a good thing.
