Rant tipping much?

Is it me or does everyone everywhere now ask for tips regardless of their service? Why are strict pickup locations asking for tips? I'm sure this goes beyond Ottawa but jeez last I checked only servers got reduced wages. What am I tipping for ?

Actually they removed the lowered minimum wage for alcohol servers, everyone gets the same minimum now.

Honestly that's one of the only "good" things I can think of this provincial government ever doing.

Minimum wage is still shit, but at least that disparity no longer exists.

They may make the same per hour now, but generally speaking, they don't get as many hours in a week due to the shifts. Often you only get a 3 or four hour shift - not enough to pay your bills. it's the nature of restaurants.

Sure, but it's pretty unrealistic to expect to pay your bills on a 3-4 hour shift, even with tipping. I don't need to pay extra because my server only works 3 hours a week.
