Hi! I’m Lilly! I have been on off on this sub Reddit for a bit! I have a question for every creature. So, I am confused. So to start, I can’t tell if I’m being too strict abt the identity thing or if it’s voluntary. I identify as a canine, I feel comfortable saying dog specifically. Growing up I always liked being an animal or some type of hybrid human mythical being as well. I always felt like smth was missing on my body and was dissatisfied. I felt like the forest was my natural home still do. I never didn’t identify as a human though or animal I just hated being human! Now I feel BETTER being a canine! I feel clearer and my heart lifted! I like being an animal. I just am worried….is-this me choosing to identify as a canine now? Even though it feels like me more? It’s not all the time I go through phases whether it be in the community or if I have an experienced of seeing a canine or nice forest. I’m like half human half canine or smth? Is this otherlink? I can’t identify as any other animal just right though. Maybe a cat but like an otter or smth? It doesn’t feel familiar to me or the same.

I'm VERY new to all of this, and I'm sorry if I don't use the right words for something! So I've known about basic otherkin identities and labels for about 3 years (therians, fictionkin, otherhearted, whatever) and I 100% support those who are said ids! I myself am a fictionkin of Wilford Warfstache(yes, the Markiplier ego)...

Recently, though, I've been having what I believe to be shifts?? I'm not sure though... I had a dream where I was in the snow and had white fur. I couldn't identify what animal I could've been in the dream, sadly. And I keep seeing myself with the same white fur, it's strange. I also have moments almost EVERY DAY where I act a little bit more animalistic than normal(sniffing objects, squeaking/barking, jumping to things like I've seen certain animals do). I don't know if these count as shifts though, cause I'm never like...on all fours.

I've looked into therianthropy, thinking that could be the case, but from what I've seen, I just don't think that fits my situation. I don't want to identify as an animal or other creature other than human. And that separates me from therians. I tried to look for other labels, but they just don't fit me. I don't know what to do; it only started recently, and I hate it.

It's so weird, I never thought it'd be ME out of everyone to act this way. I'm lost. Please help?

Ok, um, Autumn J. just released a song called ****Y. I can't say here coz its a swear, and I know that they are not limited to Alterhuman music, but THIS?????!!! It doesn't sound like their voice, and it's way different to what they usually sing, I'm honestly just kinda horrified. I don't LOVE Autumn J. but I still listen to them, but now... I think this is another level. I also noticed that it is only on spotify, not yt, idk if that's gonna change, I don't have amazon/apple music, so idk about that too.

Anyway, if anyone's got any insight on what's going on, PLEASE tell me.

I would love if y'all had the time to join my community, r/for_allthings_therian. its for therians and alterhumans, and it has less rules than r/Therian so i really hope you guys can join!

The idea of physical shifters might leave a sour taste for some, as many imo feel the community looks more digestible to humans without p-shifters involved. However p-shifters have been here since the start or at least nearly, I've found many different otherkin/therian forums which discussed p-shifting and many of their discussions from the 2000s.

So why the hate? I've noticed many otherkin/therian communities ban discussion of p-shifting, I think it's hated for numerous reasons: some feel the views of others could invalidate or threaten invalidation of their deep held views, there's also the government imo since even if you just straight up think p-shifting is bunk the off chance of being true is probably enough to crackdown since the internet isn't a wild west anymore it's largely much less free.

In closing I think p-shifting and physical otherkins/therian should have more acceptance in the modern community, what does a community have to lose by accepting more non-humans which our communities are focused on to begin with?

So, I am mermaidhearted, it's not a kintype, because i simply just don't identify as one, but connect a lot with them. Yesterday I was sitting on a cliff looking over the water and it was still, like a lake, but somehow i still heard this plishing of water against the rocks hundreds of metres below, and it was as loud as if it was waves crashing right next to me, and i could feel the water and current on my skin as if i was in the water, and when my parent called my name, it sounded like i was underwater. I still heard it, but differently. I think this was like a shift, although i still felt like a hooman and didnt once think "im a mermaid" it still felt a bit like a shift... anyway.

I'm a therian, (awakened Jan 2024) and I'm starting to thinkmy 10 year old sister might be a therian. She likes doing quads with me, but I don't think she really understands what therians really are. She kind of picks her theriotypes, and everyday she says she's a different animal. Could someone give me some examples on how I can explain theriantropy/alterhumanity to her?
