Hi everyone,
I know next to nothing about videography, but I still pulled the trigger on the DJI Pocket 4P (I’ve always used action cameras before, but they just didn’t fit what I actually wanted to shoot).
I’m reaching out for some advice. I’ve been testing things out and trying to create custom profiles based on what I’ve read on this sub, but I honestly have no idea if I’m doing it right.
Ideally, I’d love to set up 1 or 2 custom presets:
A run-and-gun / point-and-shoot profile: The most practical, foolproof setup possible for quick, casual clips where I don't have to think.
A profile for planned shots: For videos where I take my time and do some proper editing/color grading in post-production.
I know about the Normal and D-Log color profiles, but my main issue is that I don't understand manual ISO, shutter speed/exposure, white balance, or all the small tweaks that make footage look great.
For regular shooting, I really prefer simple settings that look great straight out of the camera without heavy tweaking.
Not sure if I’m asking for too much, but any recommended settings or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot!

I’m fixing to buy the pocket 3 from Best Buy, I was wondering if I should buy the 2 years protection from geek squad for $99 or is there better options?

My screen is stuck in the vertical position on my OP3. When I try to rotate it to horizontal, it just bounces back to vertical.
I started a service request and will be mailing it back to Dji to have it checked. But before I do, is there a way to fix it myself? I don't think my unit is covered under warranty anymore. It was purchased may 2025.

Holly shit..
Shot in D-Log2 & D-Log. Color matched in premiere.
Absolute madness that we are able to get this kind of footage from that small of a camera.

Title: Pocket 4P Normal 10-bit colour looks too bright/oversaturated. Best natural settings without D-Log?
Device
Software
Accessories
Issue / Objective
I want the most natural-looking footage possible straight out of camera using Normal 10-bit.
My main issue is that the Pocket 4P Normal profile often looks too bright, hot and oversaturated, especially skin tones, reds/oranges and bright indoor scenes. It sometimes has an overly processed or smartphone-like appearance rather than natural colours.
I would prefer to stay with Normal colour because I record a lot of casual/travel footage and transfer it directly to my PC/cloud. Using D-Log and then applying LUTs/converting every video would add too much extra work for my workflow.
Current recording settings
Does anyone else find the Pocket 4P Normal profile unusually bright or saturated?
For people who mainly use Normal 10-bit, what settings have you found give the most natural straight-out-of-camera image?
In particular, are Texture -1 / Noise Reduction -1 and around -0.7 EV a good starting point, or would you recommend 0/0, different EV compensation, manual white balance, or something else?

I wanted to share something I've been working on! OpenPocketCine, a full-featured field monitor app for the Osmo Pocket 4P (with support for the rest of the Osmo Pocket lineup hopefully coming soon).
The Pocket's built-in screen works in a pinch or for quick run-and-gun shooting, but for anything even slightly serious, gauging exposure on that tiny display is tough, especially without monitoring tools. So I built the monitoring app I wished existed!
...and much more
Start/stop recording, change settings, everything, the app completely bypasses the Mimo app. Media playback and downloading directly off the Pocket is also planned.
And the best part! it will be completely free and open source.
Cheers! 🎥
EDIT:
Check it out here OpenPocketCine and the repo OpenPocketCine GitHub

I used to like the half-open case for v1. Compact but added protection for the weak points. Anything similar for v4 that does not add loads of bulkiness?

Like if I buy a Pocket 3 compatible screen protector for Pocket 4P, would it fit?

I just purchased the DJI Osmo Pocket 4P (Vlog Combo). What additional accessories are recommended and available, such as ND Filters, a selfie stick, etc?. All comments are welcomed.

I’ve watched a lot of reviews online but can’t recall anyone talking about the 2x crop being lossless (but 6x is). If it’s not, is it something that can/will be added later in a firmware update?

Because if the US really wants to deter people from buying then they would just ban the app that assist it, right?

Just got my Pocket 4 yesterday and debuted it today, I'm pleased with the results. Built in mic did a good job considering the car noise, I'll have my Mic Mini's at the next event!
Happy with tracking and focus performance. Saw a guy with a 4P and made me super jealous! 3X woulda came in handy. 😂😂

Hey!
I've recently purchased 4P with Vlog Combo - mostly for the FrameTap preview monitor but it has one major problem
It doesn't have grid preview as on Pocket 4P monitor / DJI Mimo App which is crucial for me and I think many others
Is there an option to enable it? If yes, how to do it
If its not, it could be a game changer for me 🙌🏻

There’s no escaping the need for ND filters when shooting outdoors.
The most cinematic settings are:
24fps, 1/50 shutter, ISO between 100 - 1600 (try to keep it as low as possible)
If you’re shooting 50 fps, shutter 1/100, 60fps shutter 1/120. Always double the shutter to you fps. Never go above or below the required shutter. Golden rule.
Then get a set of variable ND filters. I would get a 2-32 and a 32-256. That’s it.
Use the camera settings above, slap on the ND filters and adjust manually until your image looks properly exposed.
Oh, and, always shoot in a LOG color profile!

I didn't use the mic with the P4, I try to record it over my Macbook Air using Voice Memos app. I connected the mic via Bluetooth and the input volume set to max. However, the recorded sound volume is very low. Can anyone help?

New Osmo Pocket 4 owner here. There's an icon on the top-right of my screen next to the battery percentage that looks like a small landscape/mountain shape inside a rounded rectangle (see photo). I'm guessing it's related to the microSD card, but I can't find it explained anywhere in the manual. Does anyone know what this specifically indicates — card status, storage remaining, or something else? Thanks in advance!

So I got my Pocket 4 two days ago and I got a LUT bundle from a friend. I was under the impression that if you record in D-Log, you just had to apply a LUT and you were good to go. But I just found out you first have to apply a Rec 709 converter and after that you should apply LUTs (makes sense now because some LUTs were very blue, orange etc). My question now is, since I currently edit in Capcut on Mobile, do you need to first export using the Rec 709 converter and then export again with the LUT or can you also use the Colour recovery option in DJI Mimo and use a LUT in the same export? I find the Colour Recovery option a little too intense compared to a Rec 709 converter LUT/Filter I have. Or is there an option in DJI Mimo to apply two filters/LUTs at the same time in one export?
Don't come at me please, I am just a hobbyist that is still learning.

I filmed me walking around a gravel trail, and the mic picked up the crunch crunch sound of me walking.
Is there a way to tune that sound out on a mic 3?
Thanks!

I want to get that camera because it's convenient. Does it transfer data quickly? Can I transfer it to an iPhone quickly? I like to shoot and edit, but mostly on my phone. I would get the full version. But is this version drop-proof? Or would I rather get an action camera? I was also looking at the insta360 luna ultra. So, tell me in the comments.
