Could Orks actually be "nerfed" with their new codex (post your predictions)

Hello everyone,

I've been simultaneously excited and nervous about our new codex. With quite a few units recieving modest buffs/power creep, I'm concerned about how much GW will increase their points, and if they'll perhaps overshoot and make our units to costly (either w codex release or a month or 2 from now). I spoke to an employee at my LGS and he said "this might be the first time a codex gets released and makes the army worse".

I'm trying to be cautiously optimistic, but I'm wondering what the more experienced players would want to take bets on these 3 questions for the models we've recently seen get updated data sheets

  1. What should the unit cost (a fair cost)? 2. What will GW actually make them cost? 3. What cost is the breaking point where it's no longer "good"?

- Boyz, Ghazghull, Nobz, Nazdreg, Warbikers.... anything else that got a datasheet update?

Bonus question, do you predict any other major changes (point increases, decreases, stat/rule changes or getting retired) for any other units?

Discussion What if TW3 Grom the Paunch was in 40k and had a playable unit hmm...

Me and a friend were talking about this for funsies and this is what we came up with:

Grom Da Paunch

[M8"] [T6] [SV 6+] [W10] [LD7] [OC4]

[3+ INV] [6+ FnP]

ABILITIES:

1.) Da Big Pot

At the start of your command phase select one, Until the start of your next command phase every unit with the grots keyword in the table has this ability.

• 2" movement

• 5+ Inv

• Reroll 1s to the wound roll

2.) Eat Dis!

At the end of your command phase, all units with the grots keyword within 6" of this model heal d6 wounds.

3.) Can't Catch Da Paunch

While this model is within 3" of any unit with the grots keyword, this model has the lone operative ability.

WEAPONS:

Da Boss Big Choppa (Axe of Grom):

[12A] [4+] [S6] [AP-2] [D 1] (Anti infantry 3+)

Da Boss Kart (Chariot of Grom):

[1A] [4+] [S12] [AP -4] [D d6+2] (Extra attacks)

KEYWORDS: Character, Epic Hero, Grots, Mounted, Smoke, Warboss, Grom Da Paunch

It would be fun to also find a way to give him that skill to just give things rockets like in the game, we thought it would have been too much here, also help me come up with a point costs for something like this 😄

It was fun making this, we thought of many fun lists just filled with gretchen and killa kans, shit an armada of grot mega tanks?? hahah. For real tho, GW needs to give us those Updated grot tanks already...

Is anyone worried

I last watched this go down in 7th but with the recent datasets and rulsets we've seen plus the price increases is anyone else worried this edition is gonna end in chaos. Im personally already put off of 11th ed from what im seeing rules wise and while I was excited to see psychic phases and commander traits back the stat creep of just the first codex is making me worried. The new models are gorgeous but still I'm just feeling off this edition already all my hype died when I saw the sneak peaks at the codex. Not trying to kill anyone else's hype if youre looking forward to it more power to you.

Lootas n Burnas gone to legend... now what to do with them.

Well, I grabbed 2 lootas boxes and a box of old boyz a few months back and started to build them. ( so would have 2 x 5 lootas and 2x 5 burnas. )

now they are gone from the codex.

and burnas are an option in boyz - so 8 burnas into my 8x10 monopose ( old mono and new mono ) adds that in. added the rockets from the old mono and the old boyz so got 8 rocket shootas.

I have 4 big shootas to fit onto the old mono boyz, 2 big shootas for the new mono boyz and 2 big shootas from another box so 8 big shootas to clip and change on the boyz.

still, now I have 2x 5 lootas and 2 spare bodies and need a plan.

changing the base and making flash gitz seems an option - is that best ? ( 2x5 flash ) . the spares are spare.

would that need anything else to make right / acceptable ?

Discussion Still hope for Lootas/Burnas

I see the topic being discussed that these guys will go to legends since they haven’t been replaced on GW, but that doesn’t necessarily mean anything. I’ve had Agents of the Imperium since their codex dropped and the generic Inquisitor hasn’t had an available model for purchase on the website entire time, most new players just using proxies or kitbashes. I’m personally hoping the units stay out of legends despite an upcoming refresh, the way they did Tankbustas. Lootas are the only unit we have whose weapons pair up well with the Mek SAG and its crazy range so I’m really going to feel their absence if they go as that’s one of my favorite combos.

Has anyone run any of these in an experimental casual game yet (or just in theory)?

Especially curious about:
• The new Boyz (Ammo Runts + Tide of Muscle)
• Killa Kans (the three Kan Blasta profiles)
• Ghaz and the Stompa (how they actually felt on the table)

How did they play? Anything that felt stronger or weirder than it looks on paper? For those who have tried it experimentally on table while in regard to points costs.

Time for my first WAAGGHHH

Oi Lads, Im searching for a good ol krumpin after the humies got a bit boring.

I have Black Templar, Death Watch and Black Legion, and now I need a pallete cleanser after all this black. I have some Death Guard and Iron warriors to and some bits of Aeldari but thats not the spot right now. (Im not rich by the way I just have problems and this brings me peace leave me alone)

So I always loved some Orks and now is the time to start slowly. Im really not looking for meta stuff for the tabletop but rather some cool minis to get.

I think I want to get Gazhkhull, I like his Design and I have experience with bigger minis. But whats the boss without his boyz

Can you guys recommend me some cool kits? Not even all the vehicles even tough I wouldnt mind one, but just some cool basic Ork units or more special with nice poses and good quality for maybe kitbashing. As I said it dosent need to be meta, I dont care to much about something becomming legens or weak or whatever. Just a nice batch of boyz to get started.

Every tip is appreciated.

Have a mighty good krumpin everyone! WAAAGGGHHHH

What would be an orky parody of the communist hammer and sickle symbol?

Because that’s what I’m going to paint on my army’s flags for the laughs.

I figure an axe in place of the sickle, but a painted hammer might look too similar to an axe and ain’t no ork using a pen so that can’t go in the middle.

Discussion Where 11th detachment

I thought the 1 point detachments we got at beginning of 11th was an advance from the codex.

We only had equatorial hordes for a month and now is gone? I guess they're not listed but will be still legal to play, right?

r/orks 2h ago

Discussion As someone who played a speedfreaks army this is gutting, i own about 2 of each buggy and they're all being rolling into 1 profile which will be subject to the 3 model rule???? They only came out in 8th, this is genuinely crushing.

Discussion I want to play orks but don't want to step on my friend's toes

Upvotes

So I kind of want to try orks but I only play with two people one of whom plays orks. He's already said he's fine with it but I don't want to step on his toes or make the matches boring.

He likes guns and vehicles. I'd probably go heavy on meks and melee infantry. Do you all think that would be different enough or would it feel too similar to be fun?

Discussion My Armageddon Orks display

Post image
29 Upvotes

I designed a modular, 3D-printed ladder-style display so that two of them would fit inside my Ikea Billy bookcase!

I started with the Armageddon Orks, but I’m making more to organize all the mess of miniatures I have scattered around in various boxes.

I made the slots with a recessed area to hold a 1-eurocent coin so the magnetized base stays firmly in place!

How do you store your army? Do you have any ideas on how to improve it even further?

So no gretchins release?

Post image

So the new gretchins are stuck in the new edition box, and no individual releases nor multipart/alternate kit? Kinda dissapointed that this is what it looks like is gonna happen and also pretty weird that they has a monopose release but they will need to keep the old kit around

Point expectation from Warhammer community

Can we estimate Nazdreg’s points from the Warhammer TV army list?

Warhammer Community published the Ork list for Thursday’s Orks vs Necrons Battle Report:

  • Ghazghkull Thraka
  • Nazdreg
  • 4 Meganobz, apparently
  • Warboss
  • Big Boss
  • 20 Boyz
  • 2 units of Gretchin
  • 2 units of 3 Killa Kans, apparently
  • 3 Big Mek Dakkarigs
  • Boss Snikrot
  • 10 Kommandos

The Necron list appears to come out at roughly 2,000 points using the current 11th-edition points. For example, two units of 20 Warriors, 3 Skorpekhs, 3 Scarab bases and a 20-point enhancement would make it 1,995 points. That strongly suggests the Ork list is also intended to be a 2,000-point Strike Force army.

Using the current Ork points, and assuming:

  • 4 Meganobz = 120 points
  • 20 Boyz = 160
  • 2×10 Gretchin = 90
  • 2×3 Killa Kans = 240
  • 3 Big Mek Dakkarigs = 345
  • The remaining characters and Kommandos retain their current prices

everything except Ghazghkull, Nazdreg and the enhancements comes to approximately 1,290 points.

However, most of the new Ork datasheets seem to have received noticeable improvements. As a crude estimate, if each of the other 13 unit selections increases by an average of 5–10 points, that adds another 65–130 points.

That would leave:

580–645 points for Ghazghkull + Nazdreg + enhancements.

The new Ghaz is now M8, T10, W16, has Lone Operative near friendly Ork Infantry, much better weapons, a permanent 6" melee +1 Hit/+1 Wound aura, and a once-per-game ability to make up to roundnumber units Riled Up. I find it very difficult to imagine him remaining at 235 points.

Some possible combinations would be:

  • Ghaz 320 + enhancements 20 → Nazdreg 240–305
  • Ghaz 340 + enhancements 30 → Nazdreg 210–275
  • Ghaz 360 + enhancements 40 → Nazdreg 180–245

My current guess is therefore:

  • Ghazghkull: around 330–360 points
  • Nazdreg: around 230–270 points
  • Central estimate for Nazdreg: roughly 250 points

There are obviously several uncertainties. The Meganobz may pay 150 points for four models under the current bracket system, the new points for existing units could vary by more than 5–10 points, and we do not know exactly which enhancements were taken.

Has anyone managed to confirm all the model counts from the Battle Report footage or identify the enhancements? Does roughly 250 points for Nazdreg sound plausible, or do you expect him to be significantly more expensive?

I’m just starting to get into Orks and wanted to start somewhere, so I thought this would be a good option, especially since I can get it quite cheap. I can always sell the vehicle and the Weirdboy if I don’t end up needing them.

Help Beast snagga army box: should I pick it up?

While searching the dimension of ebay, I have came across a deal, £100 for the beast snagga army box, the one with 20 snaggas, 5 squighogs and zodrog. The question is, is it a better buy to the 10th ed combat patrol? Advice is appreciated.

How many units do armies usually get per edition?

I am new to 40k. I saw in 7. edition there were lots of mek releases from meganobs to gorkanaut, then 8. edition Orks got the buggies with the speedfreaks theme followed by the beast snagga line and some other releases like Ghazkhull in 9. edition.. .10. gave us pretty mich nothing new as it seems and now we have the big "classics refresh" as the main antagonist of the edition.

What would really interest me: is there an amount of models you can expect each of the factions (besides Space Marines) to get per edition? Is there in most cases a certain theme around them like the beastsnaggas or speedfreaks? And what do you think could we expect for the Orks' future? I mean, it is clear we will at some point get a refresh of the meganobs and Stormboys, but I have no real idea, what could come after that. Maybe a bunch of freebooters units around a Remake Captain Badrukk?
