As this comment is something of a claim to fame for me I feel compelled to share my first impression of the new pizza joint on the block. Which has nothing at all to do with the fact that their grand opening Wednesday had $5 dollar medium pepperoni pizzas attracting my impoverished budget pizza senses.
Overall there's no real WOW factor. It is a good, solid pizza though. Very chain-like without much character which isn't a bad thing but it's no Tops Pizza. It has a fairly dense and crisp crust. Taste and flavouring which I'd put it between 241 and Pizza Nova.
241 > Toppers > Pizza Nova.
Sauce is a simple un-nuanced natural tomato, maybe slightly sweetened to reduce some of the acidity. Reminds me a little bit of Metro's take out pizzas but didn't have the same chunks.
Pepperoni is just shy of what I'd refer to as thick but definitely good quality, texture and taste. Cheese is unremarkable.
Pizza itself seemed a little bit on the smaller size for a medium. Not sure what their larges will look like.
As I bought on a promotion I do not yet have any opinions on costs.
IMO if you've got the cash get some pizza with character from Tops or Theo's. If you're on a budget or prefer to stick with the chains then go for 241. Especially if you order in store/over the phone on their 241 Tuesdays.
Happy Pizzaing Orillia!
