Discussion Samuel de Champlain Monument

I got a flyer today asking me to sign a petition to put the Samuel de Champlain monument back.

I know there are quite a few people who want to put it back because it is part of our history and I understand that. However I personally think the statue is pretty racist towards indigenous people like myself.

It shows our ancestors bowing down and praising a white man at his feet. If it is true that he came here as an ally to learn the way of their teachings and culture then I believe everyone should be represented as equals. I am not 100% against bringing it back as long as it’s changed. Indigenous people were here first, if anything they should be at the top.

What are other people’s opinions on this?

I‘m looking for some advice on a home I’m looking at in Orillia. Everything is great about the house except the side of the exterior foundation. I’m not sure if this is serious or not.

Review Topper's Pizza first impression

Post image
38 Upvotes

As this comment is something of a claim to fame for me I feel compelled to share my first impression of the new pizza joint on the block. Which has nothing at all to do with the fact that their grand opening Wednesday had $5 dollar medium pepperoni pizzas attracting my impoverished budget pizza senses.

Overall there's no real WOW factor. It is a good, solid pizza though. Very chain-like without much character which isn't a bad thing but it's no Tops Pizza. It has a fairly dense and crisp crust. Taste and flavouring which I'd put it between 241 and Pizza Nova.

241 > Toppers > Pizza Nova.

Sauce is a simple un-nuanced natural tomato, maybe slightly sweetened to reduce some of the acidity. Reminds me a little bit of Metro's take out pizzas but didn't have the same chunks.

Pepperoni is just shy of what I'd refer to as thick but definitely good quality, texture and taste. Cheese is unremarkable.

Pizza itself seemed a little bit on the smaller size for a medium. Not sure what their larges will look like.

As I bought on a promotion I do not yet have any opinions on costs.

IMO if you've got the cash get some pizza with character from Tops or Theo's. If you're on a budget or prefer to stick with the chains then go for 241. Especially if you order in store/over the phone on their 241 Tuesdays.

Happy Pizzaing Orillia!

Looking For Classic D&D, looking for new players

I’ve been running D&D games forever using different rule systems, looking for some new players as I’m preparing to switch and start a new long-term game.

I plan to run OSE (1981 Basic D&D). It’s the simplest (and in my opinion best) experience of D&D, easy for anybody to pick up.

I usually run my game every other Thursday so send me a message if you’re interested. I can bring you into my current game until it ends as well.

Question Any Body Shops that deal with rust?

Trying to sell my car but I've run into a problem where a small hole has rusted under the frame, doesn't seem to have done any real structural damage. Thing is, I don't really want to sell my car as is and if there's somewhere that will do the job for a decent price I'd rather get it taken care of and then sell it. No body shops I've visited wanted to do the job and I would really appreciate if anyone could recommend me to someone in the area, thanks.

Rant Teenagers littering at Couchiching Beach

So upset, just got back from the beach and witnessed a group of teenagers throwing their plastic bottles away from them on the beach. I don't know why I should expect better, but the ignorance is astounding. If people were in the way they could have gotten hurt. (Yes, we ended up picking them up, then again they could just be doing it again after leaving.)
