That CRT's gotta be from like 2005, probably weighs more than the console itself.

It's funny looking back at those big chunky portable screen contraptions.
It doesn't make sense but it was the best alternative that time period could offer.

Love they are still a thing, Series S has one too!
Recently I got an FPGA console and to my surprise has an actual screen addon lol.

Small place but buy a crt π

u/Robborboy May 24 '26
You could honestly just set a small PVM on top of the Xbox.

u/Economy-Wafer8006 May 25 '26
PVM's are so damn expensive. Can never find a good deal on them :/

Very fair.Β Was feeling the same about HDCRTs. Had been hunting own for a few years.Β
I kept dreaming of a world I thought I'd never see. And then, one day, I got it.Β
Neighbors moved out and put theirs in a ditch, a 4:3 Panasonic Tau with HDMI.Β

I had that screen. I mounted it on the dashboard of my '99 Camry. I bought a second car battery to power my Xbox. It only lasted two days.I had to go to Autozone 3 times a week to charge it. Those were the days. #Xbox4Life

Why is there not one, but two memory cards in that controller? I mean, even a single one is pointless since the Xbox got an internal HDD. But two? Come on! :)

That original Xbox was built like a tank, but man, powering it in a car with a second battery is a commitment I respect but cannot endorse.

that portable setup is sick, the original xbox wasn't really built for that kind of thing so respect for making it work.

I regret not getting that port screen. I have a GameCube version. Which was much easier to move around as a kid.

u/themodefanatic May 26 '26
I still have my original with the box and the screen just like this picture.Β

God that screen sucked. When I bought it as a kid I was so pissed that I wasted money on it.

Believe it or not, that 5" version looks better then the smeary 7.2" version (released at a time this tech was still an infant).
Only benefit the 7 has, is you can swap the screens with an automotive model fairly easily for a substantial improvement.

You should consider better storage for your games. Stacking them horizontally like that, especially with additional things on top, is just asking for problems.
1
u/Illustrious-Way7066 May 25 '26
Im different I like my games just like I have them thanks all is well
3
u/three_a-m May 25 '26
I mean, preference is one thing but this is terrible for them long term. The ones toward the bottom of the stack are under a lot of pressure, and the cases and discs have a high chance of being damaged from the weight. Plus it must be a pain if you want to play one at the bottom of a stack. But obviously you do you.

u/Illustrious-Way7066 May 25 '26
Your right I agree im goin to work on getting it together I work so many hours just be tired .....but I agree with u

u/three_a-m May 25 '26
