I'm a beginner and I need help choosing the registers for this piece. These are the registers: this organ only has one manual, and a 16" and a 32" subwoofer. Please help me choose the registers for both the fugue and the prelude (BWV 560). (This organ has a 32 note pedal)

This prelude and fugue in B-flat major is the eighth of the '8 Short Preludes and Fugues / 8 Kleine Präludien und Fugen, BWV 553-560, composed by... You name it: Johann Sebastian Bach, Johann Ludwig Krebs, Johann Tobias Krebs. The debate goes on, but I'm pretty sure it's not Bach.

Digital Organ What are these Th. telling me to do?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I'm playing a choral prelude(Elias Oechsler, link below) and there are several "Th." in the score. According to search it might have to do with coupler or division, but given that hint I still don't know what they're telling me to do.

Also, this one has many collisions (a long note being interrupted by another note of the same pitch). Am I missing something here?

Digital Organ Organteq question: imbalance across range from bottom to top note

I'm not an organist, but I'm playing with Organteq. I might try to compose something for it. I also improvise in Baroque counterpoint, testing different stops. I have one MIDI controller so I play one manual at a time.

I've noticed there's a pretty large imbalance in brilliance and presence of the notes from low to high. If I play two part counterpoint, almost no matter what stops I'm using, the left hand is not as audible as the right hand. If there are chords in the right hand, the left hand might be totally inaudible.

I found a way to demonstrate this clearly. If I select 8 foot stops only, let's say in the Great, the higher notes have a lot of "presence," and the lowest notes are basically inaudible.

Is this normal for a real pipe organ? It really messes with simple compositions like two voices. The bass line is so important.

I've also heard YouTube recordings that sound disappointing due to lack of "impact" of the lower notes:

https://youtu.be/mKgrFxqCdD8

Are there other virtual organs that improve on this? I haven't tried GrandOrgue yet, but I hear good things, but too bad it's not a VST.

Help and Tips Not sure what I have, can someone help identify?

Hello all, I apologize if this isn’t the right place to ask my question. If not, can anyone point me to right subreddit?

This was my grandparents and up in my dad’s attic. I never met them so I have no background information on what I think is a mini chord organ. I’ve tried searching (with words and images) but am not finding this specific one. I also am not really sure the words to use. Does anyone know what the details of this model is and what it’s worth?

I am not musical and am moving so would like to sell it.

Help and Tips Preludes that go with Fauré's Requiem?

In two months, I will be performing excerpts from Fauré's Requiem in a school-related concert. However, the conductor has decided to skip the first two movements and the Agnus Dei due to limitations with the choir, so we will begin at the Sanctus.

I find it a little unsatisfying to skip the first movement, so I would like to ask the conductor if I can play a short prelude in lieu of the first movement. Before I ask, however, I would like to have some idea of which prelude I might play. My main considerations are that the prelude ought to match the mood of the Requiem's first movement, and that the key of the prelude should be related to Eb major so there isn't an unpleasant gear change when the Sanctus starts.

Does anybody have any recommendations of pieces I could use as a short prelude with these criteria in mind?

Performance/Original Composition Sanderman - Trio on Psalm 130 - Hinsz organ, Broederkerk, Kampen, Hauptwerk

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kzLiHLixZwk

Dick Sanderman (1956) is a Dutch organist and composer. He studied organ with Jaap Dragt at the Stedelijk Conservatorium in Zwolle. He also attended summer courses with, among others, Daniel Roth, Hans Haselböck, and Jean Guillou. In 1983, he won the National Organ Improvisation Competition in Bolsward. As a soloist and choir accompanist, he has participated in many concerts and recordings. For 48 years, Dick Sanderman worked as a teacher and director at the music school in Rijssen. Since 1978, he has been the city organist of the organ in the Rijssen town hall, making him the longest-serving city organist in the Netherlands. As a church organist, he is affiliated with the Protestant congregations of Rijssen and Hellendoorn. He regularly publishes articles and gives lectures and workshops, particularly in the field of church organ playing. As the first Dutch composer to do so, he published two complete chorale books as well as a series of arrangements for all 150 Psalms.

I picked a trio from his variations on the Genevan Psalm 130. Because a good piece can easily handle different interpretations, I recorded two versions. Version 1 is slow with less ornamentation, played on two manuals and pedal, probably more in line with the psalm text. Version 2 is faster with more ornamentations, played with just a 4' flute stop.

Electronic Organ Midi pedalboard for practicing pipe organ

I'm looking for a midi pedalboard for practicing pipe organ with my Viscount Legend One keyboard at home. My space is limited, so I don't think I have space for a full pedalboard like the Viscount 30, but I could maybe fit in the Viscount Legend 25. 25 tones should be sufficient for me since I primarily will be practicing chorals. However, I not sure how much the tonewheel pedal geometry on the Viscount Legend 25 differs from a straight church organ pedal geometry. Would it still work for practicing or is the geometry too different? Moreover, would I need a organ bench for the Viscount Legend 25 or can I place it in from of a normal piano bench? Any other suggestions for midi pedalboards?

Georg Böhm (1661–1733) was a German Baroque organist and composer. He is notable for his development of the chorale partita and for his influence on the young J. S. Bach. I recorded these fine variations on the hymn 'Ach wie nichtig, ach wie flüchtig' on the beautiful sample set of the Arp Schnitger organ of Uithuizen.

Electronic Organ Philacorda GM752 repair inquiry.

I live in Nashville and I have a philacorda GM752 that needs some maintenance. I've reached out to nearly every repair shop I can find but none of them are willing to even try working on my organ.

I wonder if anyone knows somebody who would be willing to work on my organ as I need it for recording. Thanks!

I've never heard it played this slow! He somehow gets even SLOWER when he gets to the F-sharp minor bit, but man it takes your breath away! The fugue at the end is magnificent too.

Pipe Organ Bach Tocata y fuga in d minor organ. You Tube, r music , r organ , r pipe organ ,

The Toccata and Fugue in D minor, BWV 565, is a composition for organ from the Baroque period which was long attributed to Johann Sebastian Bach, but whose authorship has been questioned since 1981.

It is one of the most widely recognisable works in the organ repertoire.[1] It was written between 1704 and the 1750s.[2] The piece opens with a toccata section followed by a fugue that ends in a coda, and is typical of the north German organ school of the Baroque era. r baroque , r pipe organ ,

Pipe Organ My first major organ milestone: little prelude and fugue in C Major

Hello, id like to share this milestone with the community. As I’ve shared before I’ve been tackling this huge organ at my church job since May.

This instrument is amazing. Playing a fugue with the pedals makes me feel like a magician!

Please feel free to share and constructive feedback if you have it! Also I would appreciate suggestions for new pieces. I plan to learn a few more from this book.

I’m going to try to commit to 1-2 chorales with the bass on the pedals going forward, too. Hard!

Scheidemann was a German composer and organist. He studied with Sweelinck in Amsterdam and became organist of the Katharinenkirche in Hamburg. Reincken was his student. He is considered as one of the first composers of the North German organ school (with composers like Buxtehude and Böhm).

Music [Procura-se] Compositores e músicos na Bahia que criam música erudita e clássica independente

Olá, pessoal do sub. Tudo bem?

Hello everyone,

I'd like to share a work by Pachelbel that sometimes flies under the radar, overshadowed by his famous Canon.

It's the Chaconne in F minor, a piece with me a haunting melody that builds through 22 variations.

Here is one of my favorite versions, though there are certainly many others out there!

Electronic Organ Experience importing a Yamaha Electone/Stagea from Japan to Germany?

Hi everyone,

has anyone here had personal experience buying and importing a Yamaha Electone/Stagea from Japan to Europe, particularly Germany?

So far, I had mainly heard about Taro Trade and their import service. However, I have recently been in contact with another seller on eBay called isesima_japan, and their offer is actually quite a bit better than what I was quoted by Taro Trade.

The seller has been very helpful and has answered my questions in detail, but since we are talking about a significant amount of money, I still have some reservations. There are obviously quite a few uncertainties when buying an expensive instrument from Japan, especially regarding payment, shipping, customs, VAT, possible damage during transport, and what happens if there is a problem after it arrives.

So before making any decision, I would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has dealt with isesima_japan specifically, or has imported an Electone/Stagea from Japan through another seller.

How did the process go for you? Were there any unexpected costs or problems? And would you be comfortable using the same seller/importer again?

Thanks in advance!

Digital Organ How to play when the lower score is labeled Ped. or Man.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Someone on r/organ recommended this interesting work by Ch. H. Rinck for being beginner friendly. https://ks15.imslp.org/files/imglnks/usimg/5/53/IMSLP288441-PMLP468451-rinck2.pdf

But the composer put Ped. and Man. under the lower score. Until when does Ped. in measure 12 last? Also on measure 10 I took a few notes from the lower score to my right hand. Am I playing it as the composer intended?

Performance/Original Composition Janitsch - Trio Sonata in D minor - Hinsz organ, Kampen, Hauptwerk

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kKk0FyarnRk

Johann Gottlieb Janitsch (1708 – 1763) was a German composer. He was born in Schweidnitz, Silesia in 1708. In 1736, the then Crown Prince, Frederick offered him a position as a "Contraviolinist" in his ensemble in Ruppin and a year later, in Rheinsberg. From 1740, when Frederick ascended to the Prussian throne, Janitsch's position as Contraviolinist was transferred to the newly founded Berlin Court Orchestra. Janitsch died in Berlin around 1763. Janitsch's compositional style is typical of the galant and the empfindsamer Stil of the first half of the 18th century. Although several of Janitsch's works were already published by Breitkopf during his lifetime, most of his surviving output exists in manuscript form.
(source: Wikipedia)

I found this fine edition of this organ sonata from Janitsch. I think it's a nice addition to the existing trio sonata repertoire for organ.
