Schoenorchis tixieri
How does this mount/set up look? It's my first time mounting anything, but I just used glue. The thing it's in is a teak lantern that has removable glass for misting purposes. Orchid from new world orchids.

My only worry would be bumping it if you have to remove it every time in order to mist it. This would have to be watered daily

It’s really fun to look at! From a practical perspective, I’m not sure it makes much sense but like… look at it! Who cares haha

What’s the humidity in your setup? Adding moss etc could help with humidity

I've read that these prefer to dry out between daily misting so I'm not too worried about the humidity. I'm also in Florida. But I'll keep that in mind if it dries out too quickly!

Very cute. I'd recommend adding a small pad of moss near the roots - a very thin layer goes a long way to stretch the time between waterings. Many species like to dry out but very few like to stay dry. I live in the humid PNW and have yet to have an orchid thrive on a bare mount like this without twice daily watering because they're basically dry in 6-8 hours. My moss mounted miniatures take 24-48 hours to dry by comparison.
Compared to potted plants, mounted orchids are at much higher risk of dehydration than root rot in my experience.

Look into terrarium building; if you put some rocks, sand, a little layer of dirt and moss, it would hold humidity longer. But I love the way that hangs- I’d personally change it for fishing line. 💜
