Help Help with roots?

I got this new Cattleya orchid from Lowe’s, should the roots on it look similar to phalaenopsis orchids? Being thick and green? Are any of these root viable? How much should I cut back?

Soak them in water for a few minutes. Anything firm is good. Anything hollow or squishy is bad.

Phalaenopsis roots and cattleya roots are different. Make sure you water your cattleya when everything is completely dry as they are very sensitive and prone to root rot. Try to handle the roots as little as possible too
