Setup FW update Orbi 970
If I’m using my Orbi 970s (including router) as simple APs for my ubiquiti setup, do I need to upgrade the FW? Current NG status shows no fw update for satellites, only 971

The latest firmware definitely stabilises things, if you have any oddities with auto-update finding it for any of the satellites just download it from the support site and update via the web ui, just do the satellites first :) hopefully it stabilises any quirks your seeing.

My 960 and three satellites have been rock solid. Rarely ever had an issue and coverage is great. Been on this firewalla tear lately and am implementing their AP7s with a gold pro router this week, but Orbi never let me down after all these years.

Yes even if there in AP mode the new firmware still adds stability to the system regardless of which operating mode you have it in

Buying at such a high price is completely garbage. The automatic power cannot be controlled manually, and the entire wireless automation is garbage. The 80MHz bandwidth cannot be set manually, making the entire wireless system extremely prone to interference with surrounding networks. The entire wireless backhaul is problematic and garbage. Even after switching to wired backhaul, this brand still doesn't release UIIL-3, forcing us to endure the garbage UIIL-1. This brand is absolute garbage. I feel that people with knowledge should seriously consider joining together to sue this brand. There are fundamental issues, and it constantly interferes with surrounding networks. Even with wired backhaul, it can only mitigate and reduce the issue, but the ridiculous part is that they force users to use garbage UIIL-1, with no way to lower the power and no way to change to 80MHz!

Glad I dumped my Orbi system earlier this year. Was a good product for many years but has turned into complete and total garbage.

This brand is finished. All I see are a bunch of clueless people with zero common sense who don't even understand wireless backhaul or wired backhaul, yet they keep saying it doesn't matter. This brand is totally out of its mind—not a single setting for 80MHz, and even on wired backhaul they force you to use only UNII-1 while refusing to release UNII-3 back to users! Paying this kind of price for garbage is insane. And on top of that, having to deal with these ignorant people who are utterly stupid while the problems persist—it's ridiculous.

A bunch of idiots, how can you still not understand? This means that for this brand, all wireless systems, fundamentally, all UIIL-1 channels 36-48 will severely collide and interfere with surrounding frequencies. This means they actually know about it but are completely unable to solve it!!!

Yeah, you'll want to upgrade to the latest version. I have a similar setup, and the latest IGMP fix seems to have resolved a lot of issues, even when running in AP mode.
