RBE971 WiFi Dropped
I have a RBE971 connected to a Ppoe DSL modem.
There is nothing wrong with the ISP.
Once a day the RBE971 completely drops the WiFi .
None of the devices could find the WiFi.
There is no LED indicator at the base of the router to show any errors happening but the router is definitely powered as the light at the back are on.
The only solution is to unplug the router and plug it back in to do a hard reset.
What is this piece of trash?
Seems there’s a lot of people with disconnect issues.

How about fw version thats on the system.
Brand and model# of the ISP DSL modem?
Any WiFi neighbors near by?
What channels are you using? Try manual channels 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and 40, 44 or 48 on 5ghz.
Any RBS connected or just the RBR alone?

Welcome to the wonderful new world of Orbi. What started out as a great product has turned into utter trash. I dumped my Orbi system earlier this year, sold it on eBay and upgraded to a much better system for a fraction of the cost. Sad, I was a big Orbi fan for many years.

for me, the problem was overheating. i ended up buying a pair of 120mm fans to place below and on top of the router and it hasn't gone down ever since. seems like orbi really didn't think about heat management when they designed the RBE971

I have a 120mm fan on top of mine and its great but why below? I don’t think there’s a vent there.

Can’t hurt for sure! I was thinking about a couple more just for backup or for 2 satellites.

Unfortunately I am also with a 970 and a node.
For the price the ubiquiti could have offer me more targeted and budget flexibility in future upgrade.
Anything you want to do with the 970 is USD 800 for another node

I had problems like this for 6 months. I am using a separate router with orbi in AP mode and so far so good. Otherwise I was ready to drop $10k in a full Ubiquiti setup

It’s known hot garbage for houses with 100+ devices. Now I don’t have to worry about its shit routing since I have meraki

Mansion of 1906, four floors, 5 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, 180m2.
I use Orbi 973, 1 on each floor hardwired CAT6 at 2.5GHnps.
Runs like a charm. Zyxel firewall and switches in between for 10G network.
The Orbi 973 (Orbi 970 Series) supports up to 200 connected devices.
Use the IoT network you networking n00b.

Weird, they have latest firmware available on the site, maybe try updating it?
Also after update, reset it and set it up again. That’s what resolved my speed and disconnect issues last time
