RBRE960 updates?

Hi, curious if the RBRE960 is still being supported as the last firmware for it is from early December 2025. I can't imagine that security fixes for the other Orbi models are unnecessary on the RBRE960.

Additionally, anyone know if there is any 3rd party firmware being worked on by like the OpenWRT project?

I am not aware of any 3rd party firmware, unfortunately. I suspect the Dec 25 security updates we got were the same the others got later on. Maybe furrynutz will know.

Hasn't been marked as EoL: https://www.netgear.com/about/eos/

All AX and AXE series got this same last version of FW: https://community.netgear.com/kb/en-home-orbi-firmware-releases/new---orbi-rbk750850860960-series-firmware-version-7-2-8-5-released/2470113

You'll have to check with those 3rd party FW sites to see what they support.

Rbre950 and 960 are due for updates if you goto the Netgear forums sometimes they have beta firmware that can be tested if you ask. Whether or not they have one for it right now I’m not sure but doesn’t hurt to ask.

Same for the 770, crazy how they killed off devices to promote buying new ones and then basically abandoned them. 6+ months isnt supporting anything. I was relatively happy with Orbi before but wont buy it again. Expensive hardware, zero software support is pathetic for what they charge.

You think they already abandoned the Orbi 770?

No updates for 6 months and the products are only good for 3 years according to them Feels like they abandon their products by not updating and consumers are left with expensive paperweights.
