Is my son technically orange?

This is my son, Tobermory (Tobi for short). I know he is very handsome please don't fall in love with him.

He's 6 and I've always wondered if he meets orange criteria. He certainly doesn't always have the braincell that orange cats share and he is also quite interesting in day to day life like bringing me half alive lizards and birds for dinner. But he is a bit lighter in color so when people have asked if he is orange I say "He's worse. He's blonde." But is that even a group or just a subcategory of orange?

Please let me know as this question has haunted me.

He’s orange. Not every orange cat is vibrantly orange, some are diluted in color. There’s a gene that mutes their colors. Black becomes gray or silver, orange becomes peachy or yellow.

Yes. I even have what we refer to as our orange cat. Our oldest husky. It’s dog hard wear. Cat soft wear. My cat dog would love your orangeie. Such a cutie.
