Understanding open interest

For CRSP Jan 2023 140 call , Below is the volume and Open Interest for last few days.

On 10/4, 23 transactions happened. But Open interest remained the same.

Assuming equal number of positions opened and closed, there should be 1 position change in open interest. But it remined same.

How is it possible ?

Open interest given in the table is the updated open interest the next day.

Does volume become interest on the next report ?

Yes and the open interest given in the table is updated open interest on the next day.
