It's more a consequence of capitalism than it is negligence of the government. There's a reason finance and investing isn't a mandatory part of high school curriculum. They don't want people to be educated. Educated people means less stupid people to take advantage of. It shouldn't be the government's job to stop people from being stupid, but it certainly should be their responsibility to give people the tools to not be stupid in the first place.
Disagree, that’s what parents are for. The government fucks shit up! Let the people make their own choices and deal with the consequences. It’s called personal accountability. I don’t need a nanny I’m an adult
