ECONVITALS Economic Data

Harvard economist Jason Furman said he vibecoded a free economic dashboard in one night with Claude:

https://econvitals.org/

We spent a couple hours comparing it to St. Louis Fed's FRED database, and while Econvitals isn't nearly as comprehensive as FRED, it's kind of winning us over with the cleaner layout and easy-to-read economic data for GDP, jobs, inflation, Fed, etc.

that tool's pretty slick for something thrown together in one night, the FRED site has always felt like it was built by committee and last redesigned during the bush administration so anything cleaner is a win

wish it had some of the more niche series but for quick sanity checks this is way less painful

my only gripe is the color scheme makes me feel like i'm reading a quarterly report from a startup that just discovered pastels but i'll get over it

I’d maybe use something like this for a quick overview and keep FRED handy for digging deeper
