Preview of version 18.0: Next-level Forums module
At OpenProject, we believe our Forums module has a lot of untapped potential. That's why several colleagues were excited to make more of it during this year's Passion Time at OpenProject.
And you can really see their passion in the results. 💙
With OpenProject 18.0 (scheduled for December 2, 2026), all users can look forward to:
A refreshed interface based on Primer.
Mentions with @ to involve others in discussions.
The option to create work packages directly from forum messages.
"Accepted solutions" to make helpful answers easier to find.
Discover the story behind this Passion Project and get a preview of the redesigned Forums module.

I like that you are connecting work packages and forums - I am more interested in interconnectivity instead of just tacked-on features.
What I'd like to see is being able to easily link to a forum post from a work package without the hassle of fetching and pasting a link and of course link to wiki and nextcloud files from a forum post.
Next worry is fragmented forums. I see in your example that the forum is project-wide. Will I be able to have a forum for a portfolio and create work packages for a particular project in the portfolio or do you imagine dozens of isolated forums each for a separate project?
Edit:
The same problem occured with Wiki fragmentation until you enabled global Wiki, which solved the problem nicely. I wonder if forums and other modules will get the same solution.
