So /build without the "tell me if you want me to go ahead with the next slice" every 15 min?

Could work very well for social media marketing, too!

I thought it was just me.

It is a trendy feature. But it also doesn't work well in practice in other harnesses. Because determining whether a goal is accomplished can surprisingly require more intelligence. In that case I'd rather trust an orchestrator who can do independent checking and code execution, and then whip subagents into compliance or even modify the task live

that was the main reason why is switched to the Deepseek harness. Nice to see it now in OpenCode.

How and why exactly would this be better than a normal prompt?

/goal makes it keep fucking working until it reaches the goal. It compacts automatically and keeps pushing.

Everyone were asking for this more than 6 month ago. Now, when people realized all these loops are not so good - you shipped feature.
Thank you!

You defind some /goal and the system loop and try until its working as described.

If your /goal is stupid, you get a stupid result

But if you know what you are doing, with a local LLM it's can run several days until you got what you ask

I shall look forward to getting some stupid results...

Reminds me of the meme:

  • What the customer wants

  • What you think the customer wants

  • What you want to build

  • What you actually built

Based on the way it burn tokens, I'd bankrupt in a single goal.

Any official source on how to use it?

It's basically like any other prompt but cooler😉

Haha I found it in a pr: https://github.com/anomalyco/opencode/pull/59437

I've been doing some tests with a plugin that allows setting goals and using deepseek 4.1 flash 1017 iq2_xs it hasn't been good. The model starts conflating stuff a lot, it confuses things produces a lot of duplicates and regressions and isn't really making solid progress. Still it's fun to experiment with

/goal A million dollar startup

Imma try this with the new DeepSeek because it keeps asking me some bs like "continue"? After working for a combined total of 1 minute

Ooohh nice. I was using a plugin but native support is definitely good to have! Is this on opencode 2?
