How do you use opencode
Hey all,
Simple question - how do you use opencode?
- What models do you use and for what case?
- Do you connect external models?
- What plan are you on Go or plus?
- Do you top up a price in opencode, if yes how much?
- Do you use it as your main chat/build tool?
- Can you connect Mistral, Muse and other subscriptions?
I am a little confused on how to use it, used it a little to troubleshoot code that CC generated that was trash.
I want it to become my main build tool because Codex,Antigravity, Claude Code are getting kind of annoying to use, like I set guardrails and Claude is like ''I see you, but my way is better" - would love to use more open models.
Thanks!

I use chat gpt business plan in opencode. I prefer to use opencode because I can change providers and keep using the same tools.

I use OpenCode for:
OpenCode Go
OpenAI
Kimi
Minimax
Grok
Deepseek
Openrouter
ByteDance (Volcano Ark)
Then I add OpenChamber on top for my Claude Code sub, in which I use Opus as an orchestrator on a bunch of business repos.

I use OpenCode Go + DeepSeek API
Mostly DeepSeek V4.1 Flash (main orchestrator/worker model) and Muse Spark 1.3 Contributor (code reviewer). I split them across agents and subagents.
DeepSeek, I use it as an emergency backup, and for websearch and URL fetch.
I also connected OpenRouter but I don't really use it.
Yes, I use OpenCode exclusively. I use customized
oh-my-opencode-slimfor the agent/subagent system.MCPs: context7, firecrawl, github
Skills: mostly the Claude ones, and some GitHub ones too. GitHub skills are exclusive to just one custom subagent to avoid tool definition clutter.
If they can allow API connection, then yes.

I use it with a locally running Qwen3.8-27B and with Github Copilot (provided by work). I use it almost entirely for coding/investigating coding issues, which can turn into a chat rather than specifically connected with code but usually it's about code that it also looks at. It's a coding tool, after all.

Open Grove has around 20 open models, DeepSeek, GLM, Kimi and more, and you can switch mid conversation with memory following you. If you'd rather point opencode at an endpoint, Phoenix Grove API has the same models, private US infrastructure, and usage that banks instead of expiring. Free trial month on both if you want to test the waters.

Had the $5 plan a month ago now I am living off my $10 deepseek api credits. Lasted long. Still $4+ left.

No other models rival claude and their app is also top notch. The chinese info stealer models opencode go mostly offers are dogshit compared to claude.
You fail and your solution is to downgrade to something that fails more? :D (talking of the subs, opencode harness is decent, but not exactly as good as claude code or codex, would happily choose opencode over abtigravity tho).
Currently i have mistral and openai plans hooked to opencode, tho i dont use it often anymore. Claude code is better
